Hi all I am looking at a new vespa and like the gts 300 super sport in orange but did fancy a white scooter any views for assistance in my choice, also can you tour on the gts 300. I have had three 300,s a blue one, grey one super tech but did not use the tech stuff, so i know how they perform locally which is fantastic but i never did any longer trips. 62 year old this year and still remember the mod scene in manchester as a teenager. thanks in advance budgie

I've toured England and Wales on a GTS 300 for 20 days with my husband. I've taken dozens of multi day trips including riding to more than one Amerivespa and a dozen national parks in the US on both GTS 250 and 300.. I've ridden the Great Ocean Road in Australia on a Vespa GTS 250.

So yes, you can easily tour on a GTS, some people even do Ironbutt 1,000 miles in less than 24 hours.

The world is your Oyster mate, saddle up and tour until your hearts content.

I tour on mine and even on those pesky Motorways the GTS300 sits at an indicated 70mph without thrashing the balls off it.

Hell I've done some long trips on a Ural so a Vespa I'm sure can handle it

But yes like many others I have put a Vespa to the test and it's a champ. It handles the country roads without so much as blinking and the motorway it shrugs off. Holding 70-75 MPH is no problem and I've ridden long distances at the top end of that with some reserve left in the throttle. The only times I've had to pull off the freeway that I maybe would not have to on a bigger bike is very high winds.

A small petrol tank is a downside so you do need to plan for that however there are ways to deal with it. Stowage can be an issue but again that can be planned for. I am a fan of a floor rack as it keeps the weight low and holds a surprising amount of stuff.

So yeah tour away and enjoy the ride A Vespa is surprisingly comfortable on long trips and the only ride I've had I have felt more comfortable on is a C650GT and I've owned/own touring bikes.

Our GT200 and GTS250 ready to start the ride from West London to Paros, Greece in 2011 - a round trip of just over 4,000 miles. Yes you can tour.

This photo is one of my Vespa GTs, Vanessa, in Seattle, Washington.

I rode it there from home in Florida in the 2016 Scooter Cannonball Run.

It stayed there with a friend got two years, then I rode it to Morro Bay for the start of the 2018 SCR.

I intended to ride it home but got sidetracked on a goat path in Nevada.

I have many thousands of miles on Vespa GTs, including two Iron Butt Saddle Sore 1000's, with 1000 miles covered in 17:30 and 19:30.

Almost all interstate highways at 70 to 75 mph.

Bill

how do you deal with oil changes when going that many miles?! I thought that you need to do routine oil changes every 3K miles??? Let me know please thinking of going to California from Texas but the round trip is just shy of over 3K miles

Leave with fresh oil and change when you get home. Unless you are going to ride WOT the entire time it will be fine. Many people change their oil in the parking lot during a cannonball. When touring (7,000 miles) I made arrangements with a shop to have oil and tire change en route.
