Modern Vespa

Hi guys, I'm currently restoring a 150 sprint veloce and need to install new floor rails and centre mat. I'm a bit wary of installing the centre mat without the correct glue. Should I be using contact adhesive and do I glue down the side under the trim and fixing or just under the flat centre of the mat.

Any advise would be appreciated

I never used any glue at all. I just heated it up and installed.

I have used both contact cement and Shoe Goo. (Usually just a dab at the front and back of the mat.) I don't know that I have a preference. With either one make sure your mat is centered and put some kind of weight on top of it while the glue dries.

I have never put glue underneath the little side flaps. I just use the chrome trim to hold them in place.

Contact cement. And bamboo skewers to keep it separated until you're sure and helps lay it flat, no bubble.

I used contact adhesive with wooden skewers, awesome idea! I let the glue go off and layer it with skewers and placed the mat on top, just pulled them out one at a time. Perfect result.👌

I think nothing is best to allow any water to drain out.
