Hey,

Has anyone on there considered/seen/tried the electric conversion kits for Vespa's and Lambrettas that are available from Retrospective Scooters in the UK?

https://www.retrospectivescooters.com/for-sale/project-e-electric-vespa-conversion

I know they ship around the world and can be apparently self installed (or done by a local mechanic).

Not cheap, but one way to keep riding in some cities now.

There are a few threads on here, search it up. I've heard of the kits before via this forum, but I kind of yawn at the exercise as it doesn't really interest me. I see why it is interesting, but not for me is all.

I think there may have been one or two done by someone on this site. But the most of the conversions that were done privately with parts from this business that I have read about and posted are easy to find on the internet. Pricy, for sure, but probably the easiest/plug and play system out there. I'm sure there are others and several mad scientist types that are building some crazy fast ones.

If you're in London and it's your 2001 PX in your signature that you're considering, just get it tested and exempted from the ULEZ charge. They mostly test way under the NOx limit:

This is the cheapest way.

You can rebuild your engine for way less than the cost of the kits and you still can legally pump out blue smoke.

The kits look ok, I think they make more sense on a smallframe for looks etc in my view. I was up at their shop before Christmas and saw a rally with the conversion and I thought it looked wrong. The smallframes they had looked good.
