Hello!
I currently own a Piaggio fly from 2006, but I really want a vespa but not the new one full of electronic. I want the one from 90's with the clutch and the 3 gears the foot break etc...;
what I should be aware of before purchasing it. It's not for Sunday riding it's for everyday use I'm going to make it my second Vehicule because sometimes I alternate with the car.
Is it an bad idea?

Take care of it and it will take care of you. The P-series Vespa are 4 speed, not 3 and can be a lot of fun to ride. Also, don't discount the LML scoots - Stella over here in the USA, probably known as a Star to the rest of the world. Basically the same as a PX150. Good luck in your search.

Look for a late 90s or later model that has a disc brake on the front. The two stroke Vespas take a little more tinkering than auto scoots but it's easy to learn to do it yourself.

do you have a modicum of mechanical ability and a willingness to work on it?

if the answer is no to either of those then a vintage scooter is not for you.

best options would be late 90's through mid 2000's 125/150

After reading most replies, I guess (definitely) I will go for the one with the disk brakes because the "super" vintage experience might be too much for me haha.
I believe that the new "modern" px is for people like me who want to ride something vintage but with the safety of disk brakes and the choice of electric/ kick to start the vespa.
anyways thx for sharing your thoughts with me

make no mistake, everything else is just as vintage even though it's 25~30 years newer. you just get a good front brake and the option for electric start when your battery is all the way topped up.

True! They are all vintage in terms of the work involved.
