Hi all- this is my first time posting on here but I've been reading comments for some time- I've got a set of small block malossi vr one casings and a crimaz gearbox to go in it- I've seen somewhere some guy had a few issues making them fit together and had to do some dremmel work after bearings were installed- does anyone have any information so I could carry out any work before I begin the build, thanks

I think this post regards vintage stuff, so I have moved it to NSM.

I pretty much expect to do some Dremel work when I'm combining various bits and aftermarket parts.

That being said, have you tried a dry fit to see if anything is rubbing or having clearance issues? i.e. confirm the problem exists before you start troubleshooting?

And welcome to NSM! Tell us more about your project. Sounds like it's going to be fun!

Thanks chandlerman, I will have a play about when casings come back from machine shop, I had a pretty decent set up before I missed 3rd gear whilst giving it some and lost a tooth and wrecked my casings- old set up was a mk3 malossi 166 but with 60mm crank, 23 64 straight cut primary, 28 vhst, pinasco flytech, mmw clutch and sip performance right hand- was running around 18bhp and I was happy with how it performed- decided to bite the bullet and got myself the vr one small block casings, crimaz gear box, mhr 187 kit, sip performance 62mm bell crank and a few other trick bits- I'll be using a few bits from previous build for now but will upgrade as I go- I've seen a post somewhere about the work that needs doing for the gearbox but can't find it anywhere- looks like the dry build idea is best !

Also interested to see how you get on with your setup.
I've been running my MHR187 on Vrone cases for 3years now. Plenty of power on tap. I've just fitted a new top end as the cylinder was starting to ovalize.
Keen to here how you get on with tuning with that extra long crank and where you'll get your packers from,
Cheers Jim

Just curious as to why you went small block instead of big block. I know there is a bigger selection of kits available.

Thank you. I know that many make the same choice. I went with the big block because I like the stock 200 well enough and not planning to do any port work. Probably a less exciting engine, but hopefully more straightforward for me. The low hanging fruit on the tuning tree is enough for me.
