Today I removed the glovebox and installed a u.s.b port that is plug in play on my 2022 300 super hpe. All went well but after I secured glovebox back with all the screws I find that when I push the key to open nothing happens. I cant remove the box now due to the screw that is inside glovebox is not accessible to remove. What do I do? The left knee pad removed and glove box release is not reachable by hand. Any advice would great. Thanks

the glove box lever is misaligned with the latch.
use a length of coat hangar to fish thru the front cover and pop it. when you're reinstalling, using a little piece of that wire to make a hoop and keep the lever in place. then push the hook on the inside of the glove box upward for maximum clearance while you slip it between the lever and the push ring/lock body of the ignition. snap all the screws in and test it BEFORE latching the door, just to be sure.

no, he's right. you can access it that way too.
I just prefer to go thru the front because sometimes there's other items there-- horn, abs pump, alarm/afterarket junk-- and it's a tight fit and funny contortion of the hand to get there. different strokes for different folks.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I tried using a coat hanger through left knee pad but there are so many wires and difficult to see even with a mirror and flashlight. Im afraid of pulling out wires by accident and causing more problems. Can you access the latch through the horn cover? Really? I will check it out in the morning. Thanks again

I have a front rack so it's kind of a pain to access through the horn cover. Removing and placing it back the front rack all lined up is a challenge for me. OP I hope you have long fingers

There's no way my big hand could do the left knee panel trick. But YRMV.

OP, if you want some photos for reference, see this Wiki article I wrote after repairing the latch on the ET4. It's not identical to the GT, but you might find the photos helpful to identify the latch mechanism. ET2/ET4: Glovebox Latch Hook Replacement ⚠️ Last edited by caschnd1 on UTC; edited 1 time

This the HPE has much more gubbins under the left kneepad. It's the way in on older GTSs though. Use a rubber band on the latch actuator, just as they did in the factory...

Or use a 10mm socket if you don't have a rubber band at hand.

Update on my glovebox, Today I finally got it open after much frustration. After reading all your advice I finally found the release latch through the left knee pad. My fingers were just long enough to reach after days of trying. Yes the rubber band that vespa uses to hold back release lever had broke so I replaced it with thicker one and now works perfect. Thank you all again for advice. Saved me a lot of $$$ doing it myself rather than the dealer.

I just did the same thing. I removed the glove box on my '07 GTS too tap power on the back of the fuse box. Reassembled and the glove box is now stuck.
I have the left knee pad off and the horn cover but don't see the latch. Where is it? Jim |
