I have a confession to make. I haven't been riding since my accident over 2 years ago.

My scooter has a full tank and I put some stable in it when I filled it up.

Do I need to drain the gasoline and if so how! What's the best way and easiest way?

Thanks for any responses

I would use a siphon. Get as much out as you can then fill w fresh gas.

I got a cheap one at Home Depot . Don't suck the fuel out through a hose.
It ain't worth it ROFL emoticon

If it starts and runs OK I wouldn't bother - just fill up when you get to half full and then again when it's nearer empty.

That explains a lot.

I'd say if it starts and runs then don't sweat it. Are you planning on riding again Max?

Yeah! Don't tell my doctors

I have a little bit of PTSD to get over (according to my doctor). I reject the diagnosis. But that should be no worry.

Thanks

I'd be a bit concerned if it was ethanol fuel.
But overall I'm with jimc; if it starts and goes, then go for a ride.
And make it a long one.

Round the block on a quiet morning for starters.
Don't forget to pump up the tyres.

A fuel transfer pump is like $10... sure you could just run half a tank and then fill up some 91 or 93 octane to try to help... Personally, I would just use my transfer pump because I don't need to save the $15 it would cost me or the hour it would take me.

When you add gas, use something like chevron or shell. They have pretty good detergents.

Gracias. Nice new avatar.

This is going to be a slow process. My scooter was the subject of an attempted robbery so I have to replace the antenna aerial which was broken during the process. So remove the glove box panel and then I have to take care of a few other things. Including probably a brand new battery.

Thank you. We're finally getting around to making stickers, and I wanted to do something special for a fundraising effort we're working on. The artist who did the artwork lives in Kharkiv. Previously, he did outdoor signs and car wraps for Car Rallies, among other things. He was injured in the war, and now he's starting to do logos and other website graphics. He did some logos for the Ukrainian National Guard and Kraken Brigade, and media kits for various projects. He only speaks Russian, but that's a minor inconvenience if you've got google translate.
If anyone needs any sort of logo or artwork done, I would highly recommend him. Here's another version he did for us. The original Pirate logo that someone likened to a Papal Seal, and which we based these on, was created for us by a woman from Zaporizhzhia.

If it's been sitting for 2 years with ethanol in it, I'd be worried about the fuel pump. Ethanol is extremely corrosive, and an ethanol/gas mixture tends to separate, leaving the heavier ethanol at the bottom, where the fuel pump is. If there is a lot of gas, or what used to be gas in there, I would siphon or pump out as much as possible, then remove the fuel pump and let the rest pour out. I wouldn't try to run the fuel pump with it removed, or in an empty tank, it can ruin the pump. In tank fuel pumps are cooled and lubricated by the fuel. The fuel also puts a load on them when they are running, they can run too fast if not actually pumping fuel. The throttle body/injector could also be plugged up.

Here is a picture of a Goldwing carburetor I left sitting for about one year with ethanol gas in it. The white stuff is aluminum corrosion. The same thing happens to EFI systems when ethanol fuel is left in them for any length of time.
