Hi all,

I had an ET4 about 20 years ago. Loved it until some toerag nicked it.

I'm looking to get back into the Vespa world. I have my heart set on a Px but being 6'4 I'm thinking that a GTS would be the better option.

I fitted well on my ET4, but I think they're probably more similar sizewise to the GTS.

So Px or GTS?....

Any advice would be most welcome. 😃

city riding and maybe a little touring? PX

touring? freeway riding? fast surface streets and commuting? GTS

an LX would kind of fall between the two, if you're comfortable with the fit.

Thanks all!
So if people think I'll fit on a Px.... it's going to have to be the PX.

I'd suggest you go sit on different models and see what fits you best.

2t vs 4t, potential reliability issues that come with the 2t modifications to get decent performance, on board storage, auto vs manual …

If you liked your ET4 and fit well on it, why do you regard the PX or the GTS as your primary choices? Aren't you also considering an LX or a newer Primavera/Sprint?

It's your money, of course, buy what you want. If you like the ET, you could always put a 190 kit on it. Just saying.....

I myself am thinking about getting a 150. Vintage or modern? That only you can decide.

Can't speak for Retro Vespas but Modern 150 & 300cc Vespas are really easy to keep running well.
And performance wise they can silently keep up with modern autos

Being a moderator, I can spot that you're in the UK, possibly in Bristol. Be very aware that many cities now have ultra-low emission zones, so a 2T will either be banned entirely or face a possible daily charge of £9 or more. At the moment motorbikes aren't charged in Bristol's clean air zone, but expect that to change in a year or two.

Dooglas - Thanks. I did love my ET4, but really like the idea of the poppy two stroke and gear shifts. I wanted a bigger body (as I'm tall) so have discounted the LX or primavera.

Jimc- really good point re:the congestion charges. It hadn't even occured to me.

And for all those who say get borh- I wish!! If only money and space weren't issues. 😃

Hi G-Wizz
The ET and the LX are the same size (I have both)
The LX was just an evolution of the ET2/4 with some styling differences.
I'm 6ft and have loads of room on both.
The Primavera I don't have but it's the evolution of the LX.

Revzilla did a Daily Rider review on it here;

The guy reviewing it is 6'2 and he fitted on it with room to spare. In the US they get a 155cc, we get the 125cc but it's the same frame.

As for the low emission zones, in London the rules are it has to be Euro 3 compliant. My 2006 LX50 2T is Euro 3 so I don't think that's necessarily an issue at the moment.

I like to tour so a GTS300 was a no brainer for me. The extra speed and comfort
from the big Vespa is too good to ignore

And as for polluting the air with 2 stroke emissions? I'd rather not thank you.
