Hey guys. I just got my first modern vespa. The bike ran fine when I got it. It hadn't been ridden much for the last few years. Had newer fuel in it. Bike smelled like bad gas tho.
The intake manifold was starting to Crack on the outside. I purchased a euro mani from scooter parts Co. Being the kind of guy I am, I removed the charcoal canister (to get access to push out a dent in the body) and the check valve . Basically completely removed the evap system.
Now the bike bogs. I'm not sure if I removed something that I shouldn't of or need to rejet. I purchased a new carb also. Threw the old on back on and not much better. Seems lean. It's been a long time since I had to jet carbs. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

sounds like you unhooked something that needs to be hooked up.

can you post a few pics of what you got cooking?

I'm guessing you've got a vacuum leak causing a lean condition.

Ya, I think I have an intake leak. I have it down now waiting for a new clutch. I did discover the Wiki and as far as I can tell, the evap system hooked up to a breather on the carb and a vac port on the mani which is not present on the new euro mani. I will go over the connections and post back if I continue to have issues. Thank you for the response.

I would say that the carb is still partly plugged up, but since you tried a new one and it still doesn't work, I agree you probably left a vacuum line unplugged somewhere. First look everything over, if you don't see anything, take a propane torch (UNLIT) open it up just a little, and move the nozzle all around the carb and intake with the engine running. If there is a vacuum leak, it will suck in the propane and the engine idle speed will increase noticeably. There is also a possibility that the new intake manifold could be leaking. Is it exactly the same as the old one? Could there be a fitting on it that the old one didn't have?

I have a 2006 GT200 that I bought used in 2016, with only 1800 miles on it. Now have 14,000 miles on it. It was literally in brand new condition, including the intake manifold and all the rubber parts, even the tires. I went ahead and wore them out. It ran perfectly when I bought it. I did have to remove and clean the carburetor once, but that was my fault. I left ethanol gas in it for over 3 months. When I put it back it ran fine. I did disconnect the coolant lines from the float bowl (I also live near Phoenix, no problem with warming things up around here) and just made an endless loop, to make it easier to remove the carburetor in the future. I also disconnected the evap system, but didn't actually remove anything. Parts of it were tucked up inside the cowl, and were very hard to get to. I just left everything in place, removed the evap line from the gas filler neck and plugged it, then used a small piece of the same size fuel line and an L fitting, and fabricated a tank vent, which I attached to the fitting on the fuel filler neck. I am a firm believer in venting fuel tanks to the atmosphere.

Oh, did you remember to connect the bystarter wire back up? It's wired what I consider to be backwards. The bystarter is what works as a choke. It is normally ON, and when you start the engine, it applies voltage to the wire, which slowly turns it off. Which means that it will always remain ON if there is no voltage to it, and the engine will only run for a short time before it gets too rich.

I see you have a P200. I have a 2009 Genuine Stella, which is basically an Indian made PX150, which is almost identical to the P200 except 50cc less.
