My vespa was always reliable until one day I drove through a puddle. The water came up to the bottom of the floor boards but not over the feet. I mention the puddle however it was driving for months after with no problem. Then suddenly, it cut out while driving. It would restart and drive but then maybe a day later the same thing happened.

The Vespa service shop said they couldn't find any issue even after 2 months in the shop! But the problem got progressively worse and to the point where it hardly starts and hardly drives.

THEN, there was a cold front in Miami and the Vespa drove perfect. Just until the humid weather returned and now its back to hardly starting and hardly driving.

I think the Vespa shop had no problems because its dry and cold inside their shop but never thought that about the outside environment as a factor.

Any thoughts?

that's a serious puddle. Or did you mean it splashed up to that height?

so no error light on the dashboard?

the whole story sounds like bad connector / wiring / short / etc. if so this could be hard to track down

or maybe corroded battery terminals or something like that

Yes we have these flash floods in Miami so the puddle was surprisingly serious. I wasn't anticipating it to be that deep or I would have slammed my brakes.

No error light on came on and like I mentioned, it was running fine all the following days with no problems.

This is indeed a hard problem to track down.
