Modern Vespa

Picked up the new scoot today. Since the green GTS is being picked up I've only ridden it home, about 15 miles. My intention was to stay off the freeway but ended up missing a turn so ended up on the freeway for about 4 miles.

First impression, quieter than my previous GTS. Maybe due to them exhaust system. The suspension feels more planted both at 70 and on surface streets. I haven't ridden any bad roads yet though.

Once home I started installing bits and bobs including the Quad Lock with anti vibration charging head on the short windshield I also installed.

Unfortunately, the area behind the rear light is mostly sealed making it hard to run the cable inside the cowl. I had an extra Shad mounting plate that I went ahead and installed with the rear rack. A new case for this scoot is on its way but if I need to use a top case before it arrives I can use the Shad 50L even if it is pretty beat up.

Pulled the green GTS out to take a side by side picture before the shipper gets here to pick it up later today for delivery to the new owner. I'll be going for another short ride to test out the windshield soon.

What mount are you using to attach the QuadLock to your windshield?

O also used the ball adapter so I can move it between scoots without having to use an Allen key to move the basic mount.

So far only a couple of rather short rides but we are into a false spring so trees are already budding out and I even saw flowers blooming out today.

So far I have to agree that the new suspension is an improvement. The few times I've had it over 70 the scoot felt planted and solid while on the twisty country roads up and down the hills around is it just wants to lean into those turns. I'm really enjoying the 100+ miles I've put on so far.

Is this going to be your cannonball run scooter?

Unless something changes, I wouldn't have run a new scooter in 2021 but 2023 is an homage to the earlier cannonballs, complete with classes (though still an overall handicap) and no lunar landslide roads. Though if such does appear I totally intend to bypass it even if it costs me points.

There is never a bad time for a compliment. You were one of the nicest folks that I met including Amerivespa. For those who don't know I am a huge cannonball run groupie. I've made a lot of friends but you stood out as someone special.
