Which 2005 special model / Collectors Edition are you talking about?

As far as I know, the badges of the late special models were all lasered and not painted.

I think the last run of 500 PX scooters for the US market got a special edition plate.
I had one and the plate faded too. It was like it was done with a thermal printer. Lamers.

IDK of any services screening. But, I bet you could do a water slide decal onto the plate pretty cheap. YMMV

It's the 500 numbered Limited Edition "Serie America" PX150. Unfortunately, only the # of 500 was laser etched and the rest of the plate was silk screened...

Ah, that explains my cluelessness... "Series America" passed us Europeans by.

Unfortunately, I can not help then, but I would be interested in photos of this special model.

...and that's exactly why I sold mine. I have some small regret about selling mine too. If I had it to do over again I'd Hollywood Holt it and not sell her off.

Back in the day I had a conversation with Hot Rod Al about what I could do to get up to 65 max, 60 mph sustained.

He launched into all kinds of stuff, to the tune of several thousand dollars and lots of uncertainty.

Nowadays I'd know exactly what to do - like SaFIS said - kit and exhaust.

I'm with bird's-nest #hindsight...

I'm still somewhat on the hunt for a Serie America. I'm trying to collect all four colors (only 1 to go) that were important to the US. I'm also entertaining the idea of somehow finding a Serie Canada color (a metallic charcoal) as well. Then i would of course have to buy empty PX200 cases and stock cylinder, then swap the the 150's EFL transmission and starter over to the PX2...of course. Reliable 65~70+ top mph all day every day for the next 10k miles.

THAT is the perfect solution!

Let me see if I can find the place I used a few years back for a different application…

Made this in PS. Not perfect cause I can't really know what fonts they used, but it's pretty close...

Mine did the same thing.
The series number was about the only thing legible on it.
I downloaded some pictures of the plate from the interwebs and took them to a printer that also did engraved plaques and such.
He said he had done some custom plaques for car collectors.
We went through several proofs so he could match the fonts.
The final product is on brushed stainless steel so no rust.
It cost me $100 but I think it was worth it.
He even engraved the series number to make it look more authentic.
When I mounted it I left the original one under it for future posterity.
I would pass on his name and number but he closed down a couple of months later.

Is this sarcasm? If not, I beg to differ. The paint they used on the old vintage models was really tough, durable paint. It will even resist paint stripping chemicals.

On the water-slide decal... turns out I used my own laser printer and water-slide decal paper from amazon. I thought I had outsourced it? It's been about 8 years... holding up well!
YMMV

Silver doesn't count as that's the case for silver in the automotive industry as well. Try to recall how many shitty old silver cars you've seen over the years.
