I recently bought an extra GT seat from this forum to experiment a bit with. I have a GT 200L, but I got rid of the whale tail rack, and put on a GTS Gas cover, so that I could mount a GTS style cuppini rack. The grap rails are not compatible with the GT seat....side notches are needed right about where the seat strap is on the side. I pulled the staples off, shaved down the plastic seat sides until the seat closed easily, and stretched the material to be re-stapled. Looks great! BUT....since I have an extra seat now, I can get creative. I haven't really seen THE custom seat out there yet, so I'm off to a local hot rod seat specialist for ideas...if the cost isn't too bad I'll leave it. If it is...off to the Leather Factory(Tandy's) for materials. I mostly want to get rid of the seat bump that's just behind the seat strap area...by lowering the rear seat area. I'll post pics when things are in motion. If anyone has ideas, I'm all ears!
I've seen the corbin and pirate sites...also a pic posted with a heavily 'winged' seat recently.........TubaJim

Watching this thread with great interest - please post pictures soon. I'd like to see the seat conversion on your GT.

Seat update
I just picked up some fantastic Buffalo hide for the project. Very substantial, great texture. I will most likely hand sew with Buffalo sinew, ( I do a ton of Native American Crafts), but I may decide to machine sew this. Either way, I use quite a few spacing guides to ensure a perfect stitch and pattern. Mean while, here is the stock GT seat with the added cutouts to make room for the Cuppini GTS rack. BTW notice the vents under the seat!
