New member here from Olympia, WA. I've been lurking here for some time now and figured that it is time to register. My wife shares her Honda 110 Elite with me. It was my introduction to the world of scooters, much fun and I get it! I also ride dirt and street bikes.

Eventually I would like to surprise my wife with a fuel injected small frame scooter hence the Vespa interest. That is another thread topic in itself, so I'll just say hello for now in this thread.

Welcome! Here's hoping your scooter adventures continue for many many more miles.

I haven't gotten to ride one myself, but I think the modern Elite is one of the nicer-looking Honda scoots.

Thanks, in the US the 110 was only imported for one year - 2010. It surprisingly gets up to speed in short order and tops out around 48 mph, not bad for 108 cc.

Much better thank you. I am pretty impartial to red but even then with my bias it looks like you have taken really good care of this scooter. It looks brand new to me.

Thanks, it's approaching 20k miles. I just stay on top of the preventative maintenance items. Typical Honda reliability, no issues yet.

Honda also only imported the SH150 for the same year. Both great, reliable machines.

I had to look up the 2010 SH150i, was unaware of that model. That would have been a good upgrade from the 110. Both models are fuel injected and liquid cooled. It's amazing how much under seat storage there is on the 110. I've made a few Costco runs with it plus a stretchy cargo net!

Bearcat,

Welcome from Frostbite Falls Minnesota. Thanks for the photos.

Two matters:
1. You meet the nicest people on a Honda.
2. What is the low down on that coat of arms shield, if there is a
low down?

Again, welcome.

Bearcat,

Thanks for the explanation. My Mother's side of the family is 100%
German ancestry. They all immigrated to North Dakota. My Grand
Mother Lena Weber/Gied grew up on the farm speaking only German.

When they sent their kids to school (My Mom Leona) they actively
told them to only speak English. The language was lost in one
generation in an earnest attempt to assimilate. I remember Grama
saying "you are not German, you are an American".

So, my Mom has pasted away. All that is left is uncles and cousins
still swearing in German.

So Bearcat, "Gott im Himmel" and good on you with the crest.

Bob, Vielen Dank!

Spooky similar story here. My dad was raised on a ND German/English speaking farm. Joined the Army, went to Germany πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ met my mom and the rest is history.

Bearcat,

I was on an extended scooter ride along the boarder of Minnesota
and South and North Dakota. Near Fargo, I was out smoking a
cigar outside where I parked my Scooter.

I met two Germans, one from Germany and his local manager
who had married a Canadian lady and was managing his company
from Germany. They were buying up 80% of the sugar beets produced
in the red river valley locally.

The beets were being shipped out of Duluth Mn to Germany for
making beer.

Small world. I was impressed that they both spoke english. At
first I heard them speaking in German.

Bob Copeland

We had a really good conversation. He did not know that North
Dakota had a major immigrant population from Germany.

No they weren't. You can't make beer out of beets in Germany. Though I have in NZ.

Hmmm, this thread just took an interesting twist! I think most of us German transplants just like beer regardless of what it's made out of! Blasphemy Back when I was a teenager in 1980 my dad's friend was a German brew master who was ahead of his time. Here in the Pacific Northwest, he was making microbrew beer before it was commonly called that. It was called Kufner-Brau but his business fizzled out. Now the microbrew scene has exploded in this area. If I only knew then what I know now!
