Zeb_cz,

You guys from the Czech Republic are a hoot. Great metaphor.

It almost seems like the smaller the scooter, the more fun it is
to ride. On vacation, I have rented 50cc Vespas for the day.
More fun than a monkey in a forty acre grape vine.

Twist and go dodging here and there - Yee Haw!

As someone mentioned earlier they are great conversation starters. When I had Harleys I would get very few comments even though I had them dressed up nice and pretty and I attribute that to the ratio of Harley's to Vespas. Now on my slick 300GTS no matter where I go I'm always asked questions and receive compliments.

Wanted a Vespa from the time I first saw a group of them stop to watch a few of then youngsters flying model airplanes about 60 yrs later after raising a family , having had several motorcycles and retiring . I Felt it was time to indulge myself and check off another bucket list item. I am enjoying it very much.

You have it the wrong way 'round. The scooters don't attract chicks; the scooters are attracted TO chicks. Put the bird incubator on the front rack to go forward and simply move it to the rear rack to brake or reverse...kinda like a coaster brake on a bicycle. Rumor has it that they're trying to adapt this "chick magnet" technology to ADV bikes for truffles.

That was fun to read. I started on a Harley in my 20's as my primary driver...still have it but she doesn't see the road much anymore. The fun factor of scooters can't be beat for me.

Had a fascination with scooters from a young age...first exposure was a Yamaha Razz when I was young...neighbors to my grandma had one and it was a chick magnet for the teens haha! I was jealous!

Didn't actually get a scooter til my 30's...a used Zuma 125...picked up a used Burgman Executive a few years later. Always wanted a Vespa and added a Sei Giorni to the garage over the winter. Looking forward to some long trips with the Vespa!

So, I just started last summer - I'm a recent convert! Money was the prompt, but the smiles per gallon kept it going!

About 3 years ago, when our oldest turned 10, we started talking about what she would do for a vehicle when she started driving. (Even beaters are expensive!! And then there is maintenance and insurance and gas...)

My husband suggested an electric scooter, and I was... Skeptical. He would me on getting one to test, and he could use it for solo things around town instead of the car. Even calculated how many miles to drive it to break even vs gas costs of the car. The idea was that we would then pass it onto kiddo when she was old enough.

That started out well. The kids had fun riding on the back, so we got them proper gear. Then he started taking them to school on it, and we saved more money... But the electric (NIU NGTpro) didn't have the oomph for some of the places he wanted it to go. So he upgraded to a slightly more powerful electric (NIU Evo). And I toyed with the idea of switching to the now lonely NGT, for my commute. Got my motorcycle license, switched, loved it. Evo got recalled, husband got a GTS 300. We sold his car (needed to be replaced anyway, and we were at the point 1 car is normally enough.)

So then, I started needing to do a few more out of town evenings for work. My electric didn't have the range/speed. I occasionally borrowed the GTS, and it was good, but too much power for me. Especially since I had only been riding about 3-4 months. So I upgraded to my Liberty 150. My daughter talks about getting it when she's 15, and I tell her I don't love her enough - I'm keeping it! (Only mostly joking..)

Just sold the NIU a couple weeks ago to a guy in San Diego... And despite the pouring rain, still love my scooter! (Yes, I am still scooting in the pouring rain! And despite the damp, still loving it! I should probably get waterproof pants, or a scooter kilt....)

I've wanted a Vespa ever since they introduced the 300's. I've always perceived them as classy little machines, and visually a work of art.

A very low mile, metallic blue, '20 GTS300 turned up at the Sturgis Indian dealership last year after it was traded in on a new Indian motorcycle during that year's rally.

'Abby', one of the sales staff at the dealership remembered that I had mentioned, half-jokingly, that if she ever got a nice Vespa 300 in, that I'd be interested in it

Well, one day my phone rang, and it was Abby, and she said "Guess what we have in the shop? a Vespa". I headed over to look at it, took it for a twenty mile test ride, came back and bought it. It was the first opportunity I had to sample one of these scooters, and it was everything that I had hoped it would be, and more.

About a month after buying the GTS, I rode it on an 840 mile, two-day ride eastward to Minnesota and back from Rapid City. I had a great time.

It proudly shares our garage with four other machines, my '22 Triumph Rocket 3R, my two Royal Enfield 650's (a '22 Interceptor and '23 Continental GT), as well as my wife's '18 Triumph Speedmaster 1200.

A job I had in Miami. I'd come home on weekends, but while there I wanted a way to get around. So I bought a brand new Honda Met. Put 30,000 miles on it before selling it. The rest is history
