Hi folks, long time lurker first time poster, I've been unable to find an answer in the forum so thought to ask for some help. As the title suggests, I have a 2009 MP3 400 whose oil warning light doesn't seem to be working anymore.

When I turn on the ignition or flip the various switches for lights and kill switch etc the other dash lights look to be working just fine so the issue seems to be contained to the oil light.

I've tried looking through the user manual and workshop manual, while very likely I've missed something, I couldn't find anything related to maintaining or changing the bulbs on the dash.

Are there individual bulbs in the dash that can be replaced?
Is there a specific fuse for the oil light only which might have blown?
Is there anything else I should or could check to help diagnose the issue?

Any advice or next steps would be appreciated, for now I'm continuing with regular oil checks, but this is far from ideal if something were to go awry while riding.

Thanks

Probably need a new oil pressure sensor. It's not a big deal to ride the bike.
Check the oil level occasionally.

It only comes on when there is low oil pressure. You can be dangerously low on oil and still have oil pressure.

Ah I hadn't considered that possibility. I'm good for now, riding while checking the oil regularly but this feels like quite a simple and cheap thing to try to fix.

Looking through the manual it seems the sensor is just behind the oil dipstick covered by a little rubber "boot" with a wire going through the top.

I couldn't quite get the boot off, I was able to slide it partially off, but it then felt like there was something holding it in place.

What's the process for getting this sensor out?

For anyone who may stumble across this post, within the rubber "boot" there is a female connector that slides over the top of the oil sensor pin, I didn't realise this was the case, the cable going through the top of the boot should have been a give away

By pinching the boot slightly and pulling back on it gently I was able to remove the female portion from the oil sensor pin. So at least that's been handled with.

I tried unscrewing the oil sensor with my hand, but I feel that's a lost cause. I will probably need to remove the exhaust as the manual states and use a spanner of to unscrew the sensor.
