Which is lighter, louder and gives the most performance?
I've heard stories of the scorpion coming loose/falling off...anyone care to comment?
Why does the PM Tuning pipe have that loop in the exhaust?
thanks

I have the PM Tuning PM56S on my ET4 150 and its certainly sounds great. Been likened to a mid fifties British single. Low and mid range seem stronger, especially running on higher octane fuel (in NZ the best we get is 98RON unleaded).
Well made unit esp with the new CNC bracket. Comparing the weight with the standard exhaust you can really feel the difference the lighter PM unit makes. I Haven't tried or heard the Scorpion, but I'm happy with the PM unit and I think you would be too. My local Vespa dealer (Motorad) here in Wellington like it and the boys always take the Scoot for a spin when I'm in and come back smiling. |

PM here on my ET4. About 1/3 the weight of the stock pipe. Great sound, excellent acceleration with room to accelerate and pass vehicles at high speeds. Top speed wasn't affected or enhanced for me. My buddy's Scorpion pipe broke off during a ride. The mounting is lame compared to the PM. As for the loop, all PM pipes seem to have the loop.

PM are not a "nice" firm... would not buy their products on principle...
There were quality issues with early Scorpion pipes.. now addressed fom what I hear. |

Never met anyone from PM, so I'm not sure if they're meanies or not. I did get refused service at Nordstroms once, and I won't give them my money on principle either.

A common complaint I've heard about the PM pipe for the ET is that is breaks or cracks on the loop portion. Never happened to mine, but I keep the damm thing pretty loose, which you can get away with since it's in two pieces. Takes all the strain out of the loopy part. The spring rattles though. Gotta get the PM spring with the rubber dampening thing on it.

Mike Holland
I found Paul Melici very helpful whern I fitted a PM20EV exhaust to my PX200E Vespa.
I had a lot of problems with overheating after fitting a Malossi 210 kit and the PM pipe, which I had not had with my previous SitoPlus pipe. So many emails travelled back and forth between Paul and myself, trying to sort out the problem. It eventually turned out that the choke was leaking, messing up all my jet settings. So the problem had nothing to do with the pipe. But I wrecked one Malossi cylinder in the process, and melted a dent in the crown of another! I also purchased a machined head, a replacement Malossi piston, and a Cosa clutch from PM. Always good service and no problems. Mike. |

Oh the beauty of 2-stroke how fast does that PX200 run with the 210 kit & pipe? i have a Stella with that PX200efl motor in it & could use a little extra top end on the freeways |

I have no personal experiance with either pipe
I have read that the PM pipe for the GT is very loud, this turns me off. One poster on the other forum said it was so loud he took it off. (I'm sure some would like this.) I've read that the Scorpion is not as loud as the PM, but has a deep throuty sound that is louder than the stock pipe which really settles down after abour 40 MPH. I think I would perfer this. Have only read 2 posts from people with a Scorpion pipe on the GT and both liked it. One said he thinks he got 3 to 6 mph more top end. I like the way the PM pipe looks but don't want something that will be really loud, also think it is over priced. So I will likely save some money by going with the Scorpion. Being stainless steel either should out last the stock pipe. |

i have riden GT's with both pipes the power felt the same but the PM was a little more "poppy" sounding
the scorpion is alittle loud for my taste but i have kind of gotten use to it & the extra speed on the top end is nice Spock has the PM pipe on his ET4 & it sounds great EarAche has a scorpion on his Mojito (same motor as the ET4/LX) & it sounds super mellow i hate riding behind ET4's with that tri force titanium pipe (tough sounding when reving but drones when holding revs @ top speed) |

Trying to give 'em up. They sure are handy though when I'm drinking. There are better things out there to smoke though.
My favorite cloves are Djarum Blacks, or Djarum Special Lights. Ahhh. |

I've read those stories too. When I fitted the PM to my GT I made sure I read the enclosed fitting instructions beforehand. They were very specific about the order of tightening things. I followed them to the letter and have had no problems. I wonder if the people that did assembled the exhaust in the correct order. |

About the exhaust...So are you kind of saying that the PM and Scorp are pretty much the same low/mid speed performance and the main diff is the sounds and the scorps top in gain? So would that make the scorp a better value performance wise? I thinking about doing some mods after my one year warranty run out. X |

my GT has extra goodies now BUT
when i put the Pipe & CDI box on we raced on a stretch of road behind my place my GT would jump out 30ish feet & then hold similar top speed down the quarter mile we switched rider & ran it against 2 stock GT's same results |

NICE!! The one thing I wish we had here in NYC is better road and some were safe to drag a little . You are the man (after scooterbobby's scoot of course...hehe)
Is the CDI box needed for best results with the pipe? I may do some of the other stuff as well, I just can't afford to lock the motor...:/. I figured for me it a good place to start. Some of my fellow riders are jumping up to 500cc...so it would be nice to hang for a few more MPH (yeah I know they will eventually me blow out... ). X |
