Hanging lower with age vs riding.

What's you preferred underwear style to avoid the need to readjust every now and then on longer rides?

On a long ride I think it is important to wear loose underclothing, not tight Jockey Y-fronts. The colour doesn't matter.

How does it distract you?

For me readjusting is a part of life. I have a saline neuticle.

You got the standard tighty whitey undies, like most kids wore, then you got your standard loose fitting boxers. Now combine the 2 and you get boxer briefs, or as I call them-grand dad's! I wear grand dad's M-F because I sweat sometimes at my job and regular boxers on the weekend. But if I go on a long ride on the weekend I wear my grand dad's.

They keep my stuff in check and have a moisture wicking front strip as a added bonus.

This is what I wear and they are better than boxers but after bouncing over a speed bump (or on bad roads) readjusting is necessary

I think that comes down to the cut and the size of the boxer briefs, as they do vary from brand to brand. Maybe try a couple different kinds? I can't think of anything that is going to be less problematic.

Cycling shorts for me, meat and two veg are kept in place and my cheeks are nicely cushioned.

On a LONG RIDE, meaning when touring, I wear wicking underwear & wicking shirt under my gear. Not about loose, it's about perspiration on long trips.


On a day trip I wear Walmart boxers in whatever cloth they were selling that day when bought.

There is actually some serious scientific research which postulates that the little squirmies that reside in your crown jewels cannot survive body temperature. That's why they are where they are. They have to move freely as the outside temperature fluctuates. When it gets too cold they get closer to your body and when it gets too hot that's when you get low hanging balls. Low hanging balls are not pathological but the temperature range in which the little squirmies survive is very short.

I think that's a possible go-to formula: when I'm out cycling, I wear padded cycling undies made by Adiamo, which allow me to wear almost any kind of pants/shorts and feel reasonably comfy. Otherwise I wear Jockey H-fly boxer-briefs in performance fabric: just-enough support to keep Les Boys in place without a death-grip feel. Great for me on and off the scoot.

You know what also gets weirdly shaped with age? Your boxer briefs. If your underpants are a few years old there is a good chance the constant wash and wear has shrunk them and stretched them in ways less compatible with comfort.

I am always surprised when I get a new pack of underwear, lay them over the old ones, and see how different they are.

...and by 'old ones,' I mean the underwear.

Neither am I! The genetic family tree stops here and I'm sterile after chemo and none of my thingies were frozen. Just thought it would be an interesting story.
