Hi guys. Took the plunge and bought a 0 mile 2009 mp3 500 I know nothing about. lt seems that it was in storage for years from a closed dealer and maybe not ever run or set up. No manual. Source? Did the usual preliminaries and fired it up with fresh premium. Idles, but won't rev. Don't know what sort of EFI it uses. Still on my friend's trailer after pickup - thanks John! Sticky AFM, TPS, MAP sensor? What do I look for? Check grounds, corroded leads, etc? My 1st "new" scoot but know it will be a learning curve. Helpfully, the local dealer won't touch anything older than 10 years, so flying blind at the moment. What's parts availability like in US? Thanks for any input. Cheers, Ron
The MP3 will not rev without someone sitting on it -- there is a seat sensor. If you are sitting on it and it still will not rev, check that the seat sensor is connected. Potentially you might need to replace it if it is faulty.
Thanks! Don't know if my friend who picked it up sat on it or not. I'll check that when I get it home and post the result. Hope it's a KISS issue like that
Cheers, Ron
There is a MV subforum for specifically for the MP3 here. I hope someone on the forum can help you.
Years ago, I rode an MP3 500 as a loaner when the dealer was servicing my 2009 GTV. It was a really solid ride and and incredibly stable, especially on bumpy roads. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

You can also bypass a faulty seat sensor by bridging it with a resistor. There are several threads in the MP3 forum on how to do this.
My money's on the ass sensor too. Owner's manual is your friend. At 0 miles on a 2009, you might want to bleed the fluid that the bike uses for its tilty system, as well as the brake fluid, oil, and coolant...
