Fack! It looks like my carb is missing a piece, and looking for Dellorto parts appears to be a pain in the arse. Anyone encountered this problem and found a solution? Thinking about an adaptor of sorts made from a rad hose or something but maybe someone on here has a better solution?

You need a filter that fits a 43mm mouth. It should come with a rubber boot that then hose clamps to the mouth of the carb. Something like this.

Marchald makes filters that should fit right on.

That said, I do want to add I had jetting/performance headaches running an air filter on my PHBH 30mm. I got it to work, but too lean for my liking. Running without the filter now where performance is better.

Ooh... never thought of the Amazon. As I have the filter already I'm sure I'll be able to find the boot on there. Cheers.

Agreed. I could never get any of my PWK's to run to my satisfaction with a filter, even a really thin foam pod. That's from PWK 28's all the way up to 34. I didn't even bother with the 36 on my smallie.

They just refuse to breathe enough past about 6,500 RPM's.

Hmmm... thanks. I've always ran without a filter to be honest, and never had a problem. Maybe I'm just looking for a headache where there isn't one?

Look at something like a two-part UNI filter. You can take the outer layer off to thin it down. The best one's I've had were the Malossi Red's, but they're stupid-expensive, so may not be worth the investment for something you're probably going to get rid of at some point anyway.

Mine has a bell-mouth that screws on the intake.
I use a coil/spring from an old Polini Foam filter, sew my own filters, and cable-tie them on

It's interesting how the original small frame air filter (V90, etc.) is more or less a metal box with a folded wire mesh inside. Maybe the reason it works is because it doesn't really do anything. I guess now and then a few dust particles stick to the oil soaked mesh.

Hard Agree.

It filters rocks and loose screws out of the incoming air (a feature that can't be overrated) and keeps spitback contained so the cavity doesn't get all gummy. Any filtering past that is pure coincidence.

I think you've helped me decide to forgo the whole filter idea altogether. Never used one, never had a problem - I just thought I'd treat my scooter to some sweet sweet filtered air.
Shoul've asked here first lol.
