I have a 2010 Super Sport gts with a speedo that starts at 10km/h.
How do I zero it?

Was it previously sitting at zero and now sits at 10?
Did you inspect the speedo cable? I've read in other posts about checking the pinion in the hub end of the cable and re-greasing. |

My F150 starts at 20 km/hr (about 12.5 mph). There is no zero. There is just 20. Anything less is irrelevant apparently lol

I've been driving for 40 years and I've never seen one start at 10km/h.
I have to get a roadworthy cert. to re-licence it and I'm afraid it's going to be a problem. The police are very fussy here. Was wondering why fuel was disappearing whilst idle! ![]() |

Just spitballing here. Have you taken apart the headlight housing and removed the speedometer cable to see if it will zero out?

Isn't there a pin holding it there at 10km/h? I can see what looks like a shadow from it. In other words, I think it's meant to be this way

The police are very fussy here. You said it's a 2010 model. You didn't say you imported it, so I'm guessing it's already been in Australia for 13 years. Why would the certification only be an issue now that you have the bike, but hasn't been for the 13 years before that? ![]() sethyrish wrote: Was wondering why fuel was disappearing whilst idle! Fuel disappears at idle because your bike is burning fuel at idle. Whether your speedo is showing 10 km/hr, 0 km/hr, broke at 100 km/hr, or you ripped out the speedo, threw it in the garbage to ease your mental health, and left the bike idling with no speedo in it. Also, since you really felt compelled to mention the forty years of driving experience... I'm assuming you already know that you shouldn't be expecting perfect accuracy from a 13 year old fuel gage lol Seriously, you need to chill out dude. You're worrying about nothing and leaping to assumptions. Relax. Riding is supposed to be fun. Chillllllllllllllll. |

It isn't even a true accurate measure of how fast you're traveling because it's made for a set for a static diameter and as your tires wear or you change tire sizes your speedo doesn't really adjust for that. Something that shows me how fast my tires are spinning shouldn't have any impact on my mpg. Why would it? ^^^also just joking. ![]() |

I guess my question is why? So the pin can sit at 0 when the numbers on the cluster are printed to show mph as the primary? So the dash can be shared with other configurations? I'm sure there is a good reason, but just seems lazy to not have it sit at 0 when the vehicle is not moving.

I've been wondering since yesterday if I'm contributing here or not....
It's not the goblin, Luigi already knows what he's doing.... With mechanical tachometers it is common to put the pointer on a pin. Whether this now at 0, 5 or 10km/h depends on the technical conditions. For technical reasons, the display accuracy in the low speed range is relatively inaccurate. For legal reasons, speedometers in Europe (in Germany) must ALWAYS display more than the actual speed driven (so-called speedometer lead). So if below 10km/h the display is too inaccurate, you have to help yourself with the fact that the speedometer displays at least 10km/h... With mechanical speedometers, there is a higher percentage lead than that of modern speedometers without a mechanical shaft. If already the PIN at 10km/h puts you before psychological challenges, you should better not drive Vespa... Riding a Vespa is not just a hobby, it's more of a way of life. Just take things a little easier. The feeling of "Dolce Vita" will hopefully come to you too.

The police are very fussy here. anyway, I had a 2010 gts 300 and had to get a road worth cert to be able to sell it (and also with my old lx150). zero problems. as someone else said if it was ok for original sale then should still be ok. you'll be fine. |

obviously if I noticed the pin, I wouldn't have even mentioned it.
My other Italian bike (Ducati) sits at 0. Seems like lazy engineering to me! Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the scooter which I inherited from my brother. Every time I ride it I get to reminisce.
