I had done 19000km with Pirelli Angel for four years. Front tire still in good shape with no wear, however rear tire was deformed even with less wear.

My technician told me that the tire wall of Angel is hard, that's why it can last for long time but uncomfortable.

I am going to change new tires, my target is ContiScoot.
Any opinion?

A year ago all ContiScoot tires, in the US anyway, were recalled due to some possible defects. No new ContiScoot tires were available at the time so I replaced them with Pirelli Angels. I had no trouble with the ContiScoots, but I hadn't run them very long. Maybe 4000 miles. The Pirellis are working out well.

After the experience I had with Continental's Customer Service, I won't buy ContiScoots again anyway.

The Pirelli Angels on my Primavera aren't showing any of that kind of wear. Are you sure your tire pressure is correct, and your shocks are good?

Am I reading your post correctly? You have put 19k km (11.4k miles) on your rear tire? I have never put that many miles on the rear tire of any Vespa i have ever owned. The Pirelli Angel doesn't use a particularly hard rubber compound. I am surprised you could do that without being worn down into the cord somewhere.

19,000km and no wear on the front? WOW very impressive.

Yet you say the rear had less wear so ... how can that be if the front had none?

confused.

Continental makes some very good scooter and motorcycle tires. Michelin is good too. Now that Pirelli is a Chinese company, their focus is on cheaper, longer lasting tires, which is why they are harder than other tires, and last a lot longer.

19000km is quite normal in my place HK.
We will keep using until the thread depth less then 2mm or cracking shown on tyre surface.

Sorry if my wording is not clear.
I mean front tyre thread still there and no cracking. Of course, it will have wear.

Agree the rear tyre deformed by low tyre pressure.

What are your roads like in HK? I'm guessing smoother newer roads will wear the tyres less.

What is the main thing you looking for in a new tyre? Comfort? Grip?

Road condition in HK is quite good.

I am looking for new riding experiences, grip first, second is comfort.
Besides, the rear tyre were deformed.
So I want to try the new tyres.

In the past, most of the Vespa in HK were using Angel because it was recommended by some famous garages.

Recently, more competitors joined in and introduced some other brand for Vespa like BridgeStone and Maxxis.

And we, Vespa owner, had been told that Angel is long lasting but sacrificed comfortable and grip.
We found the surface of Angel tyre never melted and remain cold no matter how long the ride.

Some of us go to BridgeStone and Maxxis now. ContiScoot is new for HK, I found the comment about it are quite good.

I have the same "saw" design on my front tire Sava. Tire pressure checked regularly and correct. Now I am looking for new tires Michelin CG2 seems best option to me. Hope new tires will not have same issue soon...

Saw/scallop wear from tires not being balanced accurately, under inflation at some point in tires life?
I'd double check play in the wheel, bearings.
Possibly even a bad tire from manufacturer

Your scooter is going to handle so good with a fresh set of tires

In HK, we seldomly do the balancing for small CC motorcycle or small tyres. Will you do it for small CC scooter?

I would.

Pretty sure some say no balancing needed on smaller bikes like 125/150cc that don't go fast freeway speeds
but my 2015 Sprint 150 still has the original tires and balance weights on them, they are wearing evenly but have very low 1700 miles on them (around 2700km)

I'm curious what you were contacting Customer Service for?

I did contact Pirelli here in Australia about the max temperatures that Diablo tires are ok at and did get a helpful reply

It was Customer Service, or whoever was handling the recall of their tires. I did everything they asked but never was reimbursed for the new tires I put on. Nothing but a PITA. I'd rather forget about it.

As part of the recall process. They made it a lot of work.

I believe HK car or motorcycle owners won't have a chance to contact the customer services😅…..
Actually, we don't have much choice, most of them just follow the mechanic's instructions.

I ordered the tyres from German website. Hope it works well without problem.🙏🏻

ri00der,

I ran a Conti-scoot rear tire before the recall. Got 6000 miles, liked the tire.

Since then I've gone to Heidenau, like them better.
