Get a bigger picture of what you have under motor side cowl. Someone may have switched out some parts. Someone may have put in a Ducati CDI.

The eye terminal is your ground for the electric start. Other two I can't say. Guessing neutral switch and electric start?

Open up the junction box (black plastic rectangle) and see if any plugs match.

Hi thanks for the replies will have a look tomorrow.

Like I said I'm new to these scooters so no idea on the wiring could this be why the electric start is not working but getting a noise when I push the button, the battery is new as well as I know they say to check this first.

And 15 plate that's the age first registered in 2015 👍

Cheers Alex.

Can't say why, but it's a common thing on scooters. Electrical systems are low voltage so people aren't afraid to fuck with them. Lots of hacked and whacked harnesses/ lighting/ gauges etc.

Ok I think I got it. Eye terminal is the engine ground, blue wire is for an engine mounted HT coil, triangle plug connects to the stator in the rectangular junction box.

First guess as to why those are disconnected I'd guess the ignition or CDI were swapped? Send some wide angle shots of your working ht coil and any other plugs you see.

That's Brill cheers for that well apart from the electric start not working am I best leaving as is then or plugging everything back in if there's a place for it 🤔🤔 the scooter itself imo runs OK but again I'm no expert 🤔

Scuff up the eye terminal since it looks corroded and connect it to the fan cover bolt.

The other two leave alone.

See if you fuel gauge works after connecting the ground.

Reason for Not connected ; LML have shit wiring, so to make it run you have to keep DISCONNECTING wires till it works!

Right I've took some more pics of the shambles that's under my right fender see what you guys think......

I've put the eylet on to the fan cover as I was shown still no difference with the fuel gauge and everything under the black box is connected do the 2 random wires that don't connect to anything god know what there for haha.

Forgot to mention but previous owner told me it's had the polini 177 kit put on it, it goes like stink when you want it to so in no doubt somethings been done to it but no proof 🤔🤔.

Thanks again Alex.

That's why you have extra wiring, it's been converted to Ducati style that mounts on engine. That's the red box on yours. Previous owner didn't pull extra wiring out. You probably have extra wires under other cowl if you pull battery and spare.

There we go! I guessed correct. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut!

Someone has swapped CDI's to the Ducati style ignition. I'm guessing if you look behind the battery, you might see the old Bajaj/ LML CDI. What does that mean? Nothing really. Your ignition has been swapped to something thats easier to find parts for and more robust.

Your scooter runs so dont fuck with it. Ride it and enjoy!

Ha Ducati style what's the benefit of that then is it something to do with the polini kit? I'll take other side off and have a look round the battery area spare has been moved to back rest.

Thanks again for ya help mate 👍

I did it to get rid of proprietary LML parts. I was then able to use an ignition with variable timing.

Didnt the original LML of this age have a rev limiter so they have converted electrics to get past this?? If 2015 it would have to be euro compliant, was it Euro 5 by then? As the starter motor not working, well quite frankly just kick start it. If you want to investigate it further, although the wiring has been altered there should be a starter motor relay just above the battery, its a small plastic thing, on PXs its brown and it has a rubber retaining strap on it. Also if similar to PX you can check the fuse hasnt blown. When you hold clutch lever in and press starter button, do you hear a very feint click? If you hear the feint click the relay needs replacing, they are about £18.00 for genuine piaggio one. Likely too that if you do get your relay fixed you will need new battery. ALthough your horn might work with ignition on and engine not running, there wont be enough ooomph left in it to drive the starter motor, which is what i discovered with mine last week. New relay, new battery, all good.

To be fair mate it's had a new battery and when I try to use the electric start it makes a loud sound all most like a grinding sound but not grinding hard to describe really but sounds like there's alot of power there but doesn't engage anything.......
But I'll have a look at that at weekend about the fuse I've a few things to look at which people have suggested so once I've tried them I'll post back 👍
And yeah I don't mind kick starting at all but it's just one of those things that's bugging me why it's not working lol.
If I can post a little vid of the sound I would but not sure if you can on here 🤔🤔🤔

If it makes a decent noise, then pull starter off, and spray WD40 on the smaller part/thingee, and ensure the thingee moves..l then bolt it back on , and all good

Right I've looked at the electrics start problem the bendix is spinning freely when I push the start button but it's not releasing onto flywheel...... The selenoid is working fine so I think it's just ceased in on the worm screw bit ( might not be technical term but you get what I mean).
Does anyone know if you can just swap out the bendix without having to take everything off to get to starter motor to strip down?
I hope all that made sense any help much appreciated 👍.

That's what i was trying to say... well put.

Spray the bit that should be moving, give it a whack with whatever is handy, once it's moving all will be good again
