Ive a vespa px125 2014 , sip 2 pipe , zues cdi , upjetted to suit (110) … gps has had a 61mph top speed , screaming

Pick up is ok if revs high and 3rd gear does most the work as when in 4 not much more (5mph ish)

but i get left with my mates 166 malossi

Im having a mhr178 malossi fitted with 24/24 carb

Should i do strengthen the clutch?

And what should i expect from the mhr cylinder? With the sip2 pipe

you should absolutely get smoked by a 166 if you're on a stock cylinder with just a pipe.

I'm guessing that you have a cosa in the bike now. which will handle the power from the new kit, at least for awhile. at minimum I'd suggest upgrading the springs and plates.

might want to think about gearing depending on the type of riding you're doing.

are you going to run it on the SIP2? if you want that style of exhaust a 3 would probably do a little better with that kit but a true expansion would really wake it all up.

Dealt with this last year. Even with the 177 installed, your 125 gearing is going to limit your top speed to 64-65 mph. If you want to go faster, you'll need to change gearing like Greasy said. I put a Cosa 2 upgear in mine. Brings it to a solid 70 with the Malossi 166 installed.

Yeah gps 65mph is tops on my 177 and that's just a DR with rd2 and 24 carb. It's a cosa clutch px MY uk model and it screams it's tits off past 60mph. I'm planning to go up one tooth on clutch cog soon but the gearing around town and where I drive current gearing is good for speed bursts, overtakes but on open road for 20 mile stretches its very uncomfortable with the high revs. It's hard to keep the speed back and will do 60 mph with less than 3 quarter throttle. I shall also stick a road 3 on .

What would you suggest for clutch strength , dont want to touch gearing yet …. Will upgrade pipe next year so will be running the sip 2 but want to go expansion when i do and maybe a 28 carb when i do that

With the new cylinder, matched to the cases of course, change your primary gear to 65T. Then you can run either a 22 or 23 clutch cog. I would do this for open road, touring style riding.

With your new cylinder kit, I would change the clutch to a VMC Molle. 💯✅.
