Hi I have the chance to purchase a new YSS front shock absorber though it came off a 2001 model I'm guessing that it will not be suitable for my 2016 model. It has only done 2,000 miles. Am I right in my thinking. Thanks in advance.

The only hang up i've heard between front shocks that is that they have to be from the same type of front end. Wont work mixing and matching non disc vs. disc. Has to be apples to apples.

Is the 2001 model a disc front brake?

If it's from a uk px 2001 then it would have been disc, the MY model. Think discs were introduced from either 1997 or 1998 in uk; sure I've seen an R reg 1997 p2 with disc as it had the new silver embossed p2 decals on side panel.,

It was 1998 I had one of the first disc px 200's, the R reg was probably early 98 (ran from august 97 to July 98

Good info , thx . Imo the earlier disc models so much better than the later ones with cats. Some of the engine castings look awful, rough and bumpy as if made in India , maybe they were? I looked at one of the millennium limited editions and the engine casting was awful.

I did 35,000miles in 3 years on my px, not 1 issue apart from a puncture, oh, and a busted headset when some scroat tried to nick it.

Other than i think that YSS are garbage, if it came off of a 98 and newer disc model, then it will bolt right up to your 2016.

I was going to say same thing , be better off getting a BGM look alike replacement . The YSS may look pretty but they are too rigid despite all the adjustable pressure nonsense they can have. I'd go as far to say imo they are dangerous.
