I recently acquired a MotoVespa to go with along with my 65 Allstate and 2007 LX150.

I was told it is a 150S model. There is no engine with it. I plan on putting in a kitted 177 or P200 engine, depending on what I can find.

My issue is that I cant seem to decipher the VIN number VTT 508... ( I left off last three numbers for security)

Can anyone tell be what year it is, and if I have the correct model.

Also what models parts interchange with it as I know MV's were sometimes a mash up of other models?

Thanks in advance

VTT is the motovespa prefix for the 125s or the 150s

Model run from like 59 to 63

There's a page out there somewhere (or thread here on MV?) that has all the Motovespa model prefixes.

Here's one... click on the abbreivations for model info.

Some are more accurate than others.

Okay, its time for me to visit my local MOT office and get this registered, but I am still having an issue figuring out the year\model .

Frame VIN is VTT 508xxx (I am obscuring last 3 numbers)

I am using https://www.vespa.name/vespa-model/motovespa-150s
to try and figure this out.

VTT seems to indicate it is a 1961-63 MK1 model as per that site. Is that correct?

Is there anyway to narrow down the year?

Thanks all

I think if yours has a round light you can just call it a 61,62, or 63 Mk1 and no one would ever care. I doubt there's a data base for 60 year old Spanish scooters for the DMV to check.
Mine is a '64 bought new by a Strategic Air Command serviceman in Spain and brought back to NY. Mk 2, trap light. Frame : V13 502C, Motor : 502M . It came with what looks to be the original booklet ( in Spanish) which has a picture of the 1964 model with a trap light..

Hi Duane,

Service Ontario won't really care. Who ever registered my P200 years ago did not even use the vsx prefix. Weird, eh?

Spitball - I have no idea of the 150s production run size, or their starting number for that model. But, if I had to bet, I'd put a 500,000 number smack in the middle of the run.... So I'd just call it a 1962 and cruise on down the road.
