Got a PM pipe on a Polini cylinder and can't get the connection airtight with a regular exhaust gasket.

Both surfaces are straight and clean. No leaks at the studs.

Looks like maybe the pipe needs a copper donut type crush gasket, but I can't find any that fit.

What are you guys using?

People on the forum have recommended copper gasket dressing for this application, along with a lock washer and maybe an extra washer, and maybe loctite.

I think I just used a little bit of RTV red on my smallie's cylinder to flange.

The flange-to-exhaust uses an almost spongy metallic foam gasket. That thing is awesome and if you can get some of that material, I suspect it'll solve your problem nicely.

socalguy you know the only way to seal that is using a bbq beef box from a country store that you can only get during mods vs. rockers, right?

I second the red RTV

I also made some bronze nuts and safety wired them.

New exhaust gasket going on (couldn't find a bbq beef box, so settled on this).

Does the flat side face the cylinder or the flange?

I also want to know the answer to this question. And where did you get this gasket?

Looks like Dario puts the flat side on the cylinder @ 23:45

It came in the Scooterwest "deluxe" smallie gasket set, along with two others.
