Symptoms:
Bike is on the stand
Turn on the ignition; front suspension tilt-lock warning lights rapidly flickering, NOT steady flashing.
Tilt lock switch does nothing.
Engine starts OK.
Replaced blown 20A fuse #4; problem persists.
Suggestions?

Both the system warning light and the system failure warning light are rapidly flickering, not just flashing.

Fuse 4 also feeds fuse 11 and i think others sounds like a high resistance joint some where but check all the sub fuses for corrosion.

I disconnected the battery, then pulled, inspected and put back all 10 fuses as suggested; all were good.
Turned the key on and the problem had disappeared and the tilt lock functioned normally.
I don't know why this did the trick.
I should mention (to my embarrassment) that this began when I installed the battery. Having cross connected it in dim light a few years back I was very careful to identify the battery terminals this time and place the correct leads next to them.
I then saw that the battery had to be turned 180 degrees to fit it. So, I turned it, and thanks to a senior's moment brain fart, attached the ground wire to the adjacent (+) terminal and then when I touched the other wire to the other (-) terminal...SPARK!!
I just stood there in utter disbelief that I had just "done it again".
What a way to start the season!!!

Don't bother buying any lottery tickets I think you have used up all your good luck. Removing and replacing the fuses would be enough to break down a HR joint. It may happen again but at least you know where to start. Some years ago I reversed the battery connections on a Volvo I owned but wasn't as lucky as you it blew the fuse in the ABS controller and I later found out the whole printed circuit board was a throwaway to my great expense'

For what it's worth I discovered my hidden fuse had also blown, so my battery wasn't charging.
