Modern Vespa

I have been on here for about a month, 34 posts, yet when I sent a message to someone selling a helmet, he gets a warning that I'm a new member and likely a spammer? The seller is selling a helmet and he didn't include a price so if any transaction occurred, it would likely be me giving him money, not the other way around. How else are we supposed to answer want ads?

I fail to see the problem? it's just a warning for people buying and selling to be on the look out for scammers before engaging in a transaction.

is there some underlying problem that I'm not aware of where you can't reply to each other?

I was surprised to see that you can't reply to ads but I suppose that's just an adaptation I have yet to make. I thought the warning was harsh but maybe I'm too sensitive? Anyway,

I do think this is a pretty good site, certainly with less aggravation than the welding site I used to frequent.

No, that's incorrect. Here is the exact text of the warning message: The warning is in response to an uptick in scammers using the PM system to trick users into parting with their money. People have actually lost money. We are doing everything in our power to warn people that the scammers are active.

More specifically, the message says This does not mean the member is automatically a scammer.

So let's not get hysterical about the warning message. It's quite appropriate given the circumstances.

The typical scam here is overpaying you from someone else's account and then you repay them the overpayment. So don't think just because you're the buyer there's no risk.
