Hey.... Just wondering to update the crankshaft of my engine. The specs at the moment is malossi 210, machined piaggio cylinder head for the piston, bgm pro touring 57mm crankshaft, si 24-24 carb, polini box exhaust, cosa 2 clutch. Standar px200 gearbox. Just considering to fit a BGM big box touring V2 exhaust (BBT2) and a 60mm crankshaft mazzucchelli or bgm? I think the bgm is called "touring" and the mazzucchelli "sports". I think this have to do with the timings and degrees of the inlet. Any opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I bought a 57mm BGM rotary crankshaft for my stock P200 last year.
My best description of the crank is that the quality rhymes with "fleece of spit".

I bought a BGM crank for my Smallie polini 130 build. The engine is now in pieces because the crank is junk…. loose woodruff keye machining that I did not initially catch. I do not recommend.

I bought a bgm crank for my Series 2 lambretta build. Burning lots of gear oil on first fire up. Set it aside for a few months while I took care of other things. Revisited and found the crank cracked, piston scored and cylinder seized from 5 minutes of stand time. Currently putting together an email to SC for a warranty claim.

i also bought a bgm pro crank for my 3speed special. luckily i have fitted a metal parmakit 102 kit on it so i think will be ok for such low power.

As you run it on a box exhaust, are you more interested in a sport style performance?
Putting a 60mm crank in the old style malossi kit often ends up peaky. Even with all the packer on the head. If big carb, reeds and expansion exhaust, great.
Box, rotary and SI carb will work but not ideal. If you do get a 60mm crank the asso piston will need grinding, and the cylinder could need some work.

I installed a BGM 58-110 crank in my Lammy (225 BGM RT kit) about 10 years ago. I had zero issues with the crankshaft, but the brand new piston was a bit on the oval side of things. About 3k miles into cruising around on the scooter, the nikasil plating became a bit rippley. I've been leery of BGM ever since. Seems like it's a crap shoot whether what they sell is quality or not, so i tend to look at different brands. I personally would look a bit further than both BGM and Mazzy.

SIP (Primatist) best cranks atm. Mazzy cranks are a bit of hit and miss lately. BGM is meh…

As Jack said, old Malossi needs port work for a longstroke crank, better stay with a 57mm…

For what it's worth I have a 62mm SIP bell crank (have to machine the engine case a bit) with a Malossi MHR 177 nee 193cc. It's a ton of fun.

Torquey (crank) AND revvy (raised cylinder).

Just wanted to add I heard from SC. Theyre replacing the crank. I would definitely inspect your parts asap. Bring attention to the issue with them before you install it in your build.

I couldn't get a replacement piston as SC is out so I swapped it for the Scuderia Veloce 200cc kit. It works with my existing PHBH and Clubman exhaust. I got a good deal on it and don't mind being a Guinea pig.
