1 week old GTS.
Going to talk to dealer - glad it's in warranty.

That looks exactly like the blue plastic used to protect the trim when the Vespa is new. Peel it off!

No it's not the blueshipping wrap. There's surface bubbling under what ever substance the "Chrome' is.[/img]

Looks like bad chrome plating, they should be able to replace that trim. Someone did not do the qc at Vespa. If it is a manufacturing defect then will be covered under warranty. If they deem that it isn't then they will want you to pay for it

The actual part itself is just chrome effect plastic, not real chrome or even metal.

If it is the blue delivery wrap, it will go right underneath the part itself so you wouldn't easily see the edge of it.

From the pictures, it does look extremely close to the slightly blue wrap, and this would also explain the "bubbling".

Can you get a sewing needle / pin and put it through one of the bubbles and pull to see if the layer comes off?

Again it is not the blue shrink wrap from delivery. The blue in the pic is an led shop light reflecting.
Upon closer inspection it almost appears to show finger print patterns in the corrosion.

While it does have a bit of unsightly schmutz, that trim is plastic. I would doubt that a shop would replace that, but I suppose it can't hurt to ask.

Not sure if this is from the 23 model, but the trim itself is cheap and clicks into place - so if they don't cover it, its not too expensive to do yourself: https://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/product/beading-piaggio-legshield_PI577180?q=trim%20leg%20shield

Sadly that seems to be the norm in terms of how some businesses don't seem to care. It doesn't matter if it is plastic or it is a small blemish etc, if it isn't how it should be then doing the right thing should be the value a business should espouse. Unfortunately we live in a society where doing the right thing has become rare and thereby it gets celebrated just like every kid gets a medal just for participating ...
In this case if it is a blemish and the dealership fixes it then it would be good, if not, Jonniedee would have to escalate the matter and not sure how much effort would be required to get the other side to do the right thing.

It's always tricky for something that wasn't noted at collection though. This has likely been in this condition since new, rather than discoloured in a week - but it's difficult to prove.

Also, the part is $15. If your argue about it with the dealer for any more than an hour - it would have been better to just buy the part yourself.

Here's a picture of the trim on my project crash damaged 2022 Primavera. There is a ferrous material that wraps around the plastic trim. If you look close at the magnet you can see a chunk of that material stuck to it. I'm assuming the GTS trim is made the same way.

The trim on the 2023 is different. Much better looking than before. I don't think you can find it at SIP, yet.

The shop had better replace it! That's absolutely a warranty item, it won't cost the shop anything - they can even claim their time.

Good news update!

An auto detailer friend gave my trim corrosion a look over.
He came back with a German market product ( no English on the package just Deutsch)

WURTH Plastic Chrome restorer / cleaner.

💯% percent cleared up the apparent corrosion. Evened out the overall shininess with not much more than a through soak and wipe.

I wasted way too much elbow grease getting nowhere!
