A friend of mine wants to convert his T5 to an electric start because of his health isn't good. Can he get the flywheel side of the casing so he can fit the starter motor. I told him it's a lot of wiring to do and advise him to buy another engine.

So no to the flywheel side of the cases. They're machined as a set in alignment. Mixing and matching can throw off your crank and gears.

It is a lot of wiring to retrofit things regardless of the engine/new engine.

Don't know your friends financial situation but I'd say buy a new scoot with all that pre installed.

Better fit a PX150 or 200 engine cause a T5 engine is different in about everything. Cases are uniquely designed for the T5 and also require an unobtainium starter and flywheel…

^^^ this

if you could find a flywheel it could probably be done. but that's a BIG if... I've never seen a T5 electric start flywheel in the wild.

PX150 electric start motors are cheap and abundant. scab in the starter circuit with a relay and a button on the top of the glove box.
