Daft question time.
A lot of the jetting threads mention pulling the choke to check if the jetting is lean at different points in the rev range, but if I did that with where my ch
oke is on my px I'd hit something. How do you lot do it safely?

Steer left, let go of the throttle and reach down and then get back on the throttle. You'll feel if the engine is happy or not pretty quick. Then reverse and carry on!

Thanks guys i think unless I can jury rig a choke pull that I can operate without bending down I'll leave that test alone.

I had to figure something besides the choke/enricher pull.
1) Age related lack of coordination.
2) Allstate's choke is buried under a bench seat.
3) One of my P's the choke only holds by rust friction.

Go to a moderately-uphill stretch at operating temperature.
Uphill will feel/sound better better rich, downhill worse.
The opposite if lean.

No hills, open the throttle quickly at an "I don't know if I'm rich or lean" point. Rich will get happier with sudden air. Lean will hesitate.
