Hi Vesparatti.
I'm brand new here.
Had a second hand Electricca 30mph version for 2 years, all good.
Not riden for 4 weeks, 60% battery when last ride.
Went to start today, black screen! Except for a little red cross in a red circle flickering when key is in anything else but "on" position.
Can't open seat, without power. Remote fob won't open it either.
I've absolutely no ideas how to open the seat or what's going on, or why this has happened. Been left a lot longer with less battery but still started fine.
Pleeeeese hellllllp!! 🙏 Andy

Iirc the Elettrica had two batteries. A big lithium used for drive power and also a normal 12v lead acid used for the control systems.

Black screen sounds like your 12v is dead and needs a charge with a car/motorcycle battery charger.

Similar to a Toyota Prius then - two batteries - main, big one for drive, the small, 12v for the computer system.

The Vespa Elettrica has an emergency start function, if the starter battery should be too empty (often the display remains black then):

- Open the seat (if necessary with the emergency release in the glove compartment).
- Turn the key to "OFF"
- Press the emergency button (behind the helmet compartment next to / diagonally in front of the locking pin of the seat) until a click is audible
- Turn key to "ON" (now the display should light up)
- Press and hold "MAP" key until "Ready" status is displayed.
- now start vehicle as usual
- charge both batteries as soon as possible

Thank you guys so much! With your help, I finally got into the glove box, then under the seat, plugged her in and presto! Back in the sadlle lol.
You've been a massive help, and I really appreciate it.
If I ever get the chance to pass on any help on this forum, I will pass it forward.
Thanks again Vesparatti!

The Elettrica needs to be put into "ready" mode every few weeks to keep the 12v battery topped up. If the Vespa is in "ready" mode, it is using the main lithium battery. If it's just switched on normally, it's draining the little 12v battery under the floor.

If you do need to change the 12v battery then the Elettrica has a battery with a "5" code that sits on a little plastic table. When I replaced mine, I took out the little plastic table and put the full size "7" battery from the petrol Primavera as it will last a lot longer between charges.

Ah Jake, that's interesting..... How do i put it in 'ready' mode? Is it a turn of a key? Or do you mean turn it on with the Dash saying 'Ready' in green and leave it for, what, 10mins?
Thanks so much, Andy

Turn it on and then press and hold the start button so the Vespa is powered up and will "rev" if you turn the throttle.

Then leave it like this for a bit and it will be charging the 12v battery.

10 minutes every now and then would be perfect.

If the 12v battery has had it, then I would definitely look at the the "7" sized battery instead.

You mean the emergency start button under the seat? Or you mean just get it to "ready to roll" mode?
