I recently found myself in Padua, Italy, and was gobsmacked at the number of Liberty 150s and BV 350s running around. One fun offshoot of that was that I got a chance to see tons of add-ons and mods that I was not familiar with in the flesh.

One thing that I saw several times was a redo/replacement of the gas cap area of the BV 350, with was looks like a possibly unkeyed aluminum hatch. I thought it looked pretty neat, but after a little search around MV and on Google, I couldn't find any leads.

I was wondering if anybody was familiar with this hatch thingy or might have more information about it?
Mystery (to me) BV 350 gas tank / cap mod. Quicky pic 'cuz I didn't want to seem sketch.

I believe that style is standard on newer BV350s. I have a 2013 that has the removable door; it doesn't appear to me that a gas cap mod like that could be done with mine.

I thought about that, but my 2016 and 2017s still had the removable door and (if you forgive a link to a random CL ad image https://images.craigslist.org/01212_gFF6jZDMU3I_0gw0co_1200x900.jpg ) I think they were still with the door in the US all the way through. Good point though that it might just be what's happening in a different market.

I think I saw a gas cap like that on a BV350, but I don't know what model year it was. I remember thinking at the time that it looked nice.

Looking at press shots for recent bikes in the US and Italy, they seem to have the removable door rather than the aluminum hatch...
Hm.

Maybe you're right. Here's a picture of Robot on a 2020. It's kinda hard to see, but it appears to have the removable door.

All European Beverlys (E3 & E4) came with the 'sporty' gas cap till 2020. Later ones have the flap door…

Ah-cheers! That cleanly explains both its prevalence over there and why I've been having trouble finding in pictures. Thank you for your help!

(Now to figure out how to get one of these on my bike...)
