Does anyone have an opinion if the restored Vespa scooters sold by Scooterworks were legit or bodges?

What era?

Way back when they were sourcing euro scoots I'd suspect they were pretty solid. It has been a minute though since those days.

How early 2000's?

By the mid-2000's, they were bringing over old Bajaj frames 80% complete by the container load then sticking LML crate motors in them. They got stuck with a batch of 'em when the 2008 financial crisis hit.

I'd guess that was the Schnakenberg era stuff? In which case, yes probably pretty decent, probably Eye-talian orgin nose to tail.
(Maybe Diamond Dave will see this and confirm/deny... or plead the 5th?)

A pretty red one of these, a motorless Super 150 on a 10" front end passed thru my hands around that time. It was left over from the last shipment they brought in. The repop parts on it looked and seemed to work OK for the short time I had it. I bolted in a repaired LML motor from an older US bike then immediately traded it on for a nice but dead original VBA and some cash. It may still be running around down in Oregon somewhere.

I'd say these were somewhere halfway between. There was nothing crude going on and they really do look good, no apparent crazy frame work and a great looking paint job. But I can't say what's under the pretty paint or how long it will look so nice if there's much filler in some places just hiding for now.

If you have an opportunity for one of these, has it been used and how well has it aged? Pics would be good.

I've got one- bajaj headset, crate motor with reed valves. I dont see any call outs for poor workmanship and it has spent some time out in the elements.

So, the scooter was bought from Scooterworks in the early 200 and given to the seller in rough condition after sitting outside for 10 years. The seller rebuilt the motor and got it mechanically sorted but doesn't ride it.

It is a 1977 TS 125. I like so much about the TS. S I M P L E electrical, 10-inch wheels, Rally frame and suspension.

Curiously this is just primed. Said this is how it came from Scooterworks?? Not much rust except in a few places and on edges.

Probably came through Scooterworks for some random reason likely, but that's not anything like the containerload ones I've seen. They likely had a few bikes from elsewhere too. Also the 125ts was a Euro market bike, so would be odd for them to get one from Asia. See the giant Euro headlight?

I had one for a while, and you're right - a simplified basic Rally w/ smaller motor for 16 yo Euro kids but plenty of power from a 3 port motor. Looks like the white paint could be original. I'd say get it if you've checked it over, it has papers, the price is right, you have the itch and you have the scratch. This would be a great fit in the middle of your collection.
