Good day I'm hoping to get some help. I have a Vespa 1955, 150 the speedometer, the front hub and the gear drive for the speedometer all seem to be working backwards. The speedo front gear drive only turns when you turn the front wheel backwards. It pushes out when you turn it forward. Also when putting a drill on the back of the speedometer with cable it will only work when the drill is on reverse. It will not work going forward on the drill. Everything seems to be backwards, any help would be much appreciated. Thank you again and have a great day.

Can you provide a picture of you speedo? Wormgear?

Have you had a chance to disassemble the work gear?

It sounds like you hooked the cable up to your drill, can you get the speedo to read positive?

I am currently having issues with the cable engaging on my 65 motovespa 150s.

I am guessing it may simply be the wrong gear insidt and the teeth align well enough in reverse but rejected when run forward.

Here are the pics. Yes, I spoke to a very experienced person in California that restores vespa. He informed me that I have the wrong adapter at the bottom of the cable by the front wheel and I missing a lot of parts. The third picture are the part numbers and correct adapter.

I am not sure I have 8440 there, but for sure the grease nipple ring is present on mine, and should be on yours as well. I think you can purchase a kit that has all the pieces in one, but have not tried this.

9mm worm gear, right? that what I have but I havent been able to road test yet, and when I spin the wheel it doesnt seem to budge the needle

That part number 8440 is actually existing already inside the hub. You just need the other parts. I'm waiting for mine to come in and I'll keep you posted with the outcome.

That would be a waste not to ride it. Kids need hugs, scoots need to be driven
