Wondering if the Malossi viton clutch side seal is ok to use in a P200e engine. The case has the groove for the rubber /metal type seal, but the Malossi seal doesn't appear to have the lip for the groove.

I thought about using it anyway with some loctite 603 or sleeve retainer.

Thanks!
Looks like it has groove for rubber seal.

Malossi viton rubber-metal seal. No lip for groove.

When in doubt, don't do it! Sucks but would hate to have you waste your time for it to fail the first seconds you fire up.

I agree. I'm not sure what seal would be the best.

Any of the rubber type since the cases have the grooves/lips. Last time I tried a flat metal seals with loctite it started an air leak and the motor started racing. Once it was apart the seal had blued from the revving heat. I've tried all the loctites 603, 542, 242 and same results.

Why all the rebuild kits come with the metal seals, I have no idea?!?!? I've only seen one case that doesn't have the groove/lips. That said, I order about 4 corteco blue seals at a time so I can toss the metal seals.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Where do you get the Corteco seals?

Mercato, scooter-speed, anyone who orders from SIP/Scooter-center.

Wish you weren't in NY or else I'd give you 2 right now. I hate holding up a build on one little item.

Thank you. I appreciate the thought. Kind of how it goes though. Always something missing. Luckily, I'm not in a hurry with this one. Slo-mo nuts and bolts resto while dialing in my daily ride.

Piaggio did it on crossover engines. The crusty PX engine below, had the groove and came with a metal seal. I also did it many times with 603 and had no issues…

Many thanks. That's great info. The P200 has other weirdness, like those little tabs on the clutch side that retain the bearing, but also the slot for the outlet circlip. Looks like you could use either, but not both. Mine has the tabs installed.
