Hi Everyone.

I have a 2021 Sprint 150 S with around 200 miles on the odometer.

After taking rides between 30 minutes to an hour, there is a squeaking/squealing noise coming from the front of the scooter when I'm rolling it back into the garage (it kind of sounds like a squeaky door or someone tuning a radio). The noise stops when the wheels stop moving. I have not noticed the noise after taking shorter rides.

Is this noise "normal"? Is it something related to the brakes breaking in? Anything I can check myself?

The dealer is about an hour away so I can't just pop in to have them look at it.

Thanks!

there shouldn't be any braking in period.

is it very loud and angry squeak/squeal or only a little bit? does it do it during the entire rotation of the wheel or just a various points during the rotation? grit between the brake disc and pads can cause squeaking.

It's loud enough to notice but I wouldn't call it an angry sound.

I think it's the entire rotation of the wheel...I don't recall hearing any breaks in the sound.

Maybe I just happened to have caught some sand in the brakes on a longer ride?

If you lift the front and turn the wheel by hand, can you localize the source of the squeak?

With only 200 miles on the odo there can't have been many "long" rides. I wouldn't rule out anything that might be related to "new" brakes.

I haven't lifted the front wheel. I'll give that a try this weekend when I have some time.

Thank you for the suggestions.

Is the noise present when you aren't touching the brakes?

At the first service at 620 miles, they will do the following:

Open the engine and adjust the valves (very important - mine was quite far out at 620 miles).
Adjust the steering
Clean the engine oil prefilter
They also inspect the brake pads
Replace engine oil and filter.

If the Vespa is a 21 model and hasn't been ridden much or serviced, there's a chance that someone has jet washed it a few times and washed out the copper grease on the back of the brake pads.

Also remember the first 620 miles can't be at full throttle, as it's during the break in period!

I got the noise to happen today. Here's a quick video of the noise (the front wheel is lifted):

It seems like the noise is coming from the area of the brake (blue area?) and it's not the whole rotation of the wheel (maybe half).

The noise is starting to go away since I stopped riding for the day.
