The Vespa i bought has a front rack fitted, i want to remove it.
i don't know who the manufacturer is, it is fastened to the bike by 2 backets(top & bottom) that hook over the top & bottom of the leg shield & there is a 13mm nut/bolt that attaches the rack to the top bracket, can anyone help me with what type of rack it is & how to remove the brackets ?.
Sorry if this is a bit vague, it's the best i can describe it.
Thanks Graham.

Undo the two nuts.
The lower strap hooks onto the back edge of the fairing above the fender.
The top strap is likely to leave a hole through the horn cover plate.
Cover with a suitable sticker - e.g. an Italian flag

What happens when you remove the nut on the top bracket? Does the rack and bottom bracket come off?

I'm wondering if it's all held together via tension from that one bolt.

I've got it off ,it was held on by a top & bottom nut which where attached to the 2 brackets & when i removed the horn cover i got the brackets off with a bit of handlebar moving & jiggery pockery,
But the retaining clip for the horn cover screw is missing, so i'll have to source one of those, if it's available as a separate part .
Whoever has done the work on this bike for the previous owner, was a bit of a butcher, i may start another thread about it.
Thanks for the replies,Graham.

Here is the info for that clip. I'm sure SIP will have it as well if it's easier to source from there.

Here is the diagram.

Your GTS might handle better without all that bedazzle metal hardware bolted to the front. Razz emoticon

Thanks, yes the rack with all those metal badges weighed about 10lbs , but the reason i took the rack off, was i realised the headlight cowl was rubbing on the top Fastener & i could just feel it in the steering & i think it looks better(pics).
I've checked out SIP, did not know about them, they have the parts in stock, but shipping is a bit high(compared to parts cost) to the UK from Germany,i'll check if the local Vespa dealer has them on Monday, they'll be more expensive but no shipping cost , so we'll see.
Once again when working on the Bike i've found whoever did the work, did a bodge up using a posi drive self tapper & not using the original fastener & Torx screw , i believe if the original owner knew the standard of the work i've found when doing jobs he'd be horrified, he was a really genuine guy.
Thanks for all the replies, Graham.
