Here is what a tank of gas cost me to fill a GTS 300. Note, this is premium fuel at summer cost.

A new GTS tank holds 2.1+ gallons.

Why stop when you have 50 more miles you could have ridden?

cheaper than Australia.

a full tank is 8.5L (GTS HPE) at around AU$2.10/L for 98RON* (US 94) = AU$17.85 (US$12) although my typical fill is about 7L = $14.70 (US$10)

* zero ethanol

We're fortunate here in South Dakota that most 91 octane pumps are non-ethanol, and I generally use that grade in our two-wheelers, though I don't think there's any significant advantage in doing so in our modern machines.

I had assumed this topic was going to be about, regardless of the ever-increasing cost of fuel, because I get so much pleasure and enjoyment from riding that I really do not mind the monetary cost! That result being the true value of a tank of gas, but perhaps I am overthinking it!

I thought somebody would do a Steve Williams on this.

"A good ride on a tank of gas is like flying with the Angels on Gossamer Wings. Its value is incalculable relevant to the uplifting of my soul as I ride my Vespa like a bird in flight."

Something like that. Only he would say it better.

The true value of a tank of gas is how long, and far it is till the next tank.

lol.

I was thinking of him yesterday as I was riding in the bush and there was several trees on the road that thankfully had been cut through and dragged to the side. (ref a recent YT vid of him dragging a log)

You can, just not in the major metro areas. Though you can sometimes find it at marinas.

FYI, there is a website that is sourced by the public that lists non-ethanol stations. Some are outdated, some incorrect, and some are accurate as per usual with open sourced information:

With plenty of bends in it. (The roads that is, not the fuel tank )

The title of this thread also confused me...

Then I realized it was actually the true COST of a full tank.

The VALUE of a full tank lies in the experiences you gain through riding it until it is empty. Where to... what road... what weather... who with...?

If one compares a session with a psychotherapist to a tank of gas of the same cost, I value the tank of gas as far more beneficial to my mental health...!

Keep riding !

I've been paying well over $5.00 for Premium/91 octane in CA, I can't complain, never even shop for price, the miles per gallon, fun and convenience make fill ups of these little machines painless.

The cars however are a different story, the cheap stuff from Costco every time.

physiologist: a healthcare professional who gives people information and advice about exercise to help them manage and prevent injuries and chronic conditions

Last year, when I was returning to Rapid City from one of my 1300 mile rides to St. Paul, Minnesota to have a coffee with my brother and his wife, I was on my Triumph Rocket III that trip, and was in the middle of 'Nowhere, South Dakota' about halfway back while nervously watching my remaining fuel range getting precariously short.

With the bike's computer telling me there was six miles of gasoline left before I would be sitting on a very not-running 700 pound Triumph Rocket along the shoulder.

As I was nursing the bike along in 6th gear at 55 mph, I came over a hill and saw a small town a mile or so ahead...complete with a fine-ass gas station, and even though I couldn't get my usual 91 octane for the Triumph there, I wasn't in any position to get all butt-hurt about it and fed the Triumph five-something gallons of 87 octane, which both of us were more than happy to get.

Under the circumstances, those five-something gallons of gasoline were worth much more than I paid for them.
