I figured it was time. My SO's 2011 LX150 only has around 2,200 miles but is 12 years old. She has not ridden it in years and I have basically taken it over. I have kept up with all the other maintenance but figure it's time (or past time) to change the belt before something happens to it.. I'll probably change the rollers and ramp guides while I am in there.

I have all the parts, tools, watched all the videos a couple times, read all the tips on here especially Greasy's inputs. Now it's just a matter of getting my hands dirty.

I just hope there are no surprises. Wish me luck.

Good luck, it does sound as though you have done your research! Why not upload some stage-by-stage photos on here, I'm sure they would be welcome.

I tackled the project this morning before it got too hot in the garage. It took me a little over an hour. All went well and I didn't have any leftover parts. I changed out the rollers and guides while I was in there, although I probably didn't need to. Gave everything a good cleaning before I put things back together.

Having all the right tools and watching Robot's videos made it a pretty straight forward job. The biggest problem I had was getting the transmission cover back on. That was a real struggle and I don't know why. Then it just popped into place.

As always, it was a great learning experience and a feeling of accomplishment. I would not have tried it without the help from this forum.

That cover can be a bit fiddly. I might be getting better with it after a half dozen or more rounds....

Boy, tell me. Getting it off was no picnic, but putting it back on was a real challenge. I even took a slight break between attempts.

I have occasionally thought about selling it and getting a new Primavera. We bought it new and now I feel like all the maintenance is up to date. Plus it has such low miles. I'm not crazy about the stock seat, but I'm slowly throwing money at it to get it right.

The seats for the LX and S models of the 150 are interchangeable. If you don't plan to ride 2-up, the solo seat that was originally standard on the S is a nice alternative.

I did the belt on an s150 this weekend robot's video was dead on. Only problems I had was dropping air cleaner screws on my dirty shop floor should have swept the floor before I started my bad.
I had done it before many years ago it was easier this time took about an hour with a couple drink breaks it was hot here
Quicker than I thought it would take.

uhh... yeah man, I'd be getting on that pronto.

I just did one that flat ass came apart at 2800mi (okay, technically it was 2785), and the client wasn't ragging it out on the fwy or anything. same as you, dude bought it low miles, did the oil/filter/flushings of fluids, snapped some new tires on and has been cruising it.

I'm not sure I would call fitting different weights an upgrade. They are simply different.
The OP fitted new weights. Was that an upgrade?

Going to all the effort of taking the thing apart, I would have fitted different weights but that is just me.

Interesting comment and one that never even crossed my mind until I read this. I guess the performance of a stock 150cc Vespa is OK with me. Something to think about for next time.

Yep, nice area to ride, just don't speed. They are not anyway tolerant with going 2 mph over the posted 30 mph. You can go north on the beach road (707) up to Bridge road to go back to the mainland and ride thru the sleepy town of Hobe sound. Or continue north on 707 past the beach parking area to the Nathaniel P. Reed Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge Beach (north beach) where it dead ends. Nice place for surf fishing.
I worked on a lot of Golfer's homes down there, mostly on Jupiter island - Nick Price, Lee Trevino and Greg Norman among others. Also Jack Nicklaus' home in Lost Tree Village on 703 that goes thru Singer Island. Which is another nice ride.
In your area, it's all about beach riding. If going south, you can go over to Palm Beach, down A1A and ride all the way down to Miami and then US1 to Key West, if you are not in a hurry. North - A1A all the way up to Cape Canaveral, then north on US1 to somewhere south Of Daytona where A1A starts again. That will go north past Saint Augustine (cool old town) past Jacksonville to the top of the state to Fernandina Beach.

All true. I moved here 33 years ago. It has sure gotten crowded over the past years. Jupiter used to be just a dot on the map when I was in college in Melbourne back in 1973. It was only know for being the home of Burt Reynolds. Now, there are a ton for sport celebrities living here. Can't blame them.

Yeah, so you have been there for awhile. Last I checked, there are 5 times more people living in the north county then there was when I was growing up in Riviera Beach. I won't suggest you riding thru there, it's a bit rough, but it was a great place to grow up.
Burt Reynolds grew up on the east side of US1, about a half mile from me in an area of retired people and fisherman. His father was the chief of police for awhile, very nice man.

As far as crowds go, the same thing is happening close by here in Charlotte and the surroundings area where I live. Luckily, I am retired and don't have to deal with the crazy traffic on a daily basis. My other siblings that still live in Palm Beach county are all talking about selling out and moving farther north in Florida where it is less crowded. Still have to deal with the three H's though.

That is a very clean LX you got there.

I got a 2015 clean Sprint 150 a bit over a year ago and changed the belt at 1000 mile mark, also rollers and guides, the old belt looked pretty good but didn't save it as a backup but did save rollers and guides. On my 2018 GTS and 2018 Primavera I saved all the parts, belts, rollers, guides for back up.

Also the lighter 12.5g Malossi rollers seemed to liven up the Sprint (off the line and accelerating up to speed)

I see you jacked up the scoot to make it easier to work on. Do you have to clamp down the front wheel to do that or is the front wheel off the ground and the scoot is balancing on the jack? Having it just a few inches higher would make it so much easier for me. I've used some 2 by under the center stand to make it a little higher but a jack would be a lot easier.

Yes, I had the front wheel tied down to a pretty heavy Condor scooter chock. This old body has a hard time working on the floor these days. The jack makes a big difference for me. Things get a bit closer to eye level when sitting.

Best tool I've purchased for doing DIY stuff on my scooters ...is this pad to kneel or lie on.
With the accessory roll of Paper Towels under your head to support your neck....well, be careful - it is embarrassing to be found dozing out there in the garage - mid gear oil change.

When I bought this matt at Dick's there were two co-ed types at the register. Real cuties!

They complimented me on my purchase of this comfy "sit-up mat" I laughed all the way to my car.
"this baby is never going to see a sit-up performed on it!"

You got this mate. You have the parts, you have watched the videos. The only unknowns are if the bolts holding the various things together come off with the elbow grease. Take your time to do it methodically and keep the bolts/washers organized.
Take the time to clean everything up and use some anti seize grease where needed to future proof it for opening.

I picked up a couple of yoga mats at Goodwill, makes the garage concrete comfy.
And yes, I have taken a short nap on them on a cool day in the middle of working on a scoot with the door open - just resting my eyes. At least that's what I told my daughter Facepalm emoticon
