So I recently bought a 2001 Vespa et4 in non running order. I'm having trouble even cranking it. I've narrowed it down to the immobilizer. So here's the issue….. I was given a blue and a red key but no matter what key I insert, the immobilizer light keeps flashing. The red key has the chip in it. So I don't know what to replace or what to do. If somebody could please help me out I would really appreciate it.
If the LED just keeps flashing, it suggests the immobiliser isn't getting an 'ignition on' signal from the ignition switch. The ignition switches go faulty far more often than the immobiliser, so I'd start there by measuring for continuity where you'd expect it. See the circuit diagram at:
So I recently bought a 2001 Vespa et4 in non running order. It simply doesn't crank. I press the run button and nothing. I initially thought it was an immobilizer problem but with the change of a new battery. The light went away. I've sprayed some carb cleaner. But nothing. I even tried kickstarting it to no avail. Could someone point me to the right direction to get my Vespa running ?
You need air, fuel and spark - in the right amount and at the right time.
So clean out the air filter, clean the carb, check the vaccuum and fuel lines, check the fuel tap works, check the carb fills with fuel, check for spark.
Then come back and tell us if it starts or not.
Oh, and I merged your topics - there's no point starting a new topic on the same subject (ET4 not starting).
