behind my sprint headlamp there is a metal retaining clip. Can't find it on SIP or scooterwest. It holds the headlamp in place and mine is maybe a little bent as it's able to wiggle.

Bend it back ? I doubt you are going to find that sold separately. Maybe someone's got an old unit they'd take it off of.

Even if you did find new repros of it, they'll be garbage compared to the og. I had to get new clips for my VNA headlight and the clips are MUCH thinner and weaker. I despise them. They barely work. I've lost half already.

get some thin steel rod and bend your own. It's the only way to be sure.

It is made of pretty durable spring steel, so could be a chore to make one. These guys have it, but their shipping is ruthlessly expensive. I included one of these in a parts order from them, and it was good quality and actually fit.

An unfortunate result is that it will most likely break hence me having to order one. It is brittle spring steel. Anyway, give it go, mate, as there isn't much to lose if it does break.

Exactly. Just go easy. I'm guessing it shouldn't be straight but have a slight bow in it to "spring" the ends into place.

I just got home from a quick ride around the neighborhood and lost ANOTHER one of the thinner newly made one. At this rate I'll have the 3 originals holding the light in and that's it by the end of the month

Just don't use plain mild steel baling wire, use this instead.
Piano wire - Wikipedia
Piano wire, or "music wire", is a specialized type of wire made for use in piano strings but also in other applications as springs. It is made from tempered high-carbon steel, also known as spring steel. There are 23 different gauges of music wire, ranging from number 13 (0.775 mm) to number 26 (1.6 mm) in half-point increments.

I don't understand what that means. Regardless, the company has the part. If one looks for it in their list of parts for Sprint, SS180, it is there. The piano wire sounds like a good idea.
