Lots of center stand info in search function but have not found the answer. Want to know how far the
Liberty center stand lifts the back wheel. Recent hernia repair has me limited to picking up 15 pounds so putting bike on center stand is challenging.

About an inch, you can get a side stand fitted which would make your life much easier. The kit is about 50 bucks plus install.

You don't lift a Vespa onto the main stand, you kick the stand down, (almost) without any force from your hands.

It depends on the right technique, then it goes almost without force.

Stand to the left of the Vespa/Piaggio with your left hand on the left handle (secure with brake if necessary), right hand on the passenger handle. Step down on the stand without force (with the ball of your foot, with your right or left foot, depending on your preference) and swing the Vespa to the left/right until both feet of the stand touch the ground. Only when the Vespa/Piaggio is "balanced", give force to the stand and pull up / lift the pillion handle with the right hand (the left hand does NOT pull on the handlebar, but only guides, pulled brake must be released!).

From my point of view, it takes more energy to get on/off the Liberty than to put it up on center stand. That's unscientific and could be totally wrong. If a rider has issues with their left foot/balance, then I could see it being a bit more difficult. Otherwise, as stated by the 2 above, you just step on the stand and hold the scooter steady by holding the grab rail and it's up.

I agree that it is easy and doesn't need strength or lifting to get a scooter up onto the center stand…but it does take a little practice until you get the technique timing/balance set correctly into your muscle memory.

Robot shows how to install a side stand here. He also puts the Liberty on the center stand one handed.

Be caredul with the side stand since it doesn't have a kill switch it has a spring that will cause it to retract anytime the weight on it changes. A gust of wind or vibration from heavy equipment has caused folks to find their scoot laying on its side. Hopefully you can figure out the knack of putting it on the center stand as it takes no upper body strength. The procedure with emphasis on both legs of the center stand being evenly weighted is the key. Tilted either way makes it much harder.

The kit I have incoming is the same one Robot used in his side stand video. It does have a kill switch so the engine won't run with it down.

The stand won't retract on its own you have to kick it back. It stays in position unless you move it.
Yes, it will not start and it will shut down if the stand is deployed.
Very convenient when just moving the scooter, running in a store, moving out of the garage, etc.

Not so convenient if you then forget to turn off the ignition and remove the key when you're going into the store, or leaving it in your own garage...

But very handy for opening farm gates etc.

True.
I never use the side stand to shut off the engine, same with kill switch. To me the stand switch is there to prevent me from riding away with the side stand down, that can be fatal.

Then it is like the one that comes standard with the 2018+ GTS which is rock solid or at least as solid as any other kickstand.

If you have the tool for installing springs on brake shoes it works great for installing the side stand spring.
I also put the removed jumper for the side stand switch in the tool kit, just in case the side stand switch fails on the road. You can unplug the switch and plug the original jumper back in, just don't forget the stand position. Try and place the connector in a location you can reach without too much effort, another just in case moment.

For fun, take look at how Af1 Racing dealt with this Liberty side stand kit.
Guaranteed to put you right off purchasing one🙂
They followed Piaggio instructions.

You are correct about the non-kill switch side stand, a spring loaded tip over waiting to happen
