The first time Honda halted production of the helix/fusion, the customers rose all kind of h#ll, which convinced the big H to build it for a few more years. The Ultimate feet forward lounge scooter, propelled by an understessed, water cooled, 2 valve four stroke 250cc lifted from the CH250. Handles like a barge, but a very comfortable straight line scoot. I am amazed that they are still being "discovered " by some of the tubers considering how long ago they ceased production, yet there are so many still around. I can only guess they are running out of things to talk and joke about. I guess the 80s stuff is getting cool.

The Yamaha was a better scoot all around. DOHC, More HP, Disc brakes front and back, more storage areas.... It's pity it only lasted 3 years here.

There are a lot of very cool Japanese Bullet Train style scooters that we never see. Suzuki made one that's very space age called the Gemma 250
If you like the Honda 250cc engine in the Helix, here's another fugly scooter that used the Honda Helix engine back in the late 1990s. Anybody know what it is? ![]() |

Vespa! I heard they bought motors from Honda before making their own 4 stroke motors for the vespas.

Close. It's a Piaggio Hexagon. I'm pretty sure the Piaggio X9 250 used the horizontal motor from the Foresight/Reflex. Piaggio was making those in the early 2000s, while developing their own liquid cooled 180 four valve four stroke engine, which became a 200 in the GT.
Honda helped Piaggio set up their production lines Japanese style, so that every model could be built on any assembly line, when Sabelli became Manager of Piaggio. Many people would be surprised to find out how many parts are interchangeable between the modern Piaggio engines and some of Honda's engines. Here's the Suzuki Gemma I mentioned earlier. I have always thought this would be a great bike to own. ![]()

Hexagon - for some reason they'll never cease to exist: just a brief look on the local 'Craig list' -type of sales channel and I could go and buy one immediately.

Adding to my above post about the Honda Helix; I mentioned that it ceased production. I found out recently that it is still being built in Japan for the home market. There isn't on part for the ones imported here that you can't buy. Considering there were few changes during the years 1986 to 2007, it makes sense. Still, I fine that amazing. The equivalent to that in the Vespa world that I am aware of would be scoots made between 1959 and 1983 in the US market. There isn't any part that you need that can't be bought easily.
