Had my spare blue key cut by a locksmith this AM. The mechanical part works as it should. Followed instructions on programming new key a couple of times w/o any joy šŸ™. Reread the instructions (for the 4th or 5th time). When it says to turn on then off in 1 to 3 seconds it does not mean more then 3 seconds like I was doing. Off after a 2 count and presto! Key now works.

From GermanGTSdriver ( https://modernvespa.com/forum/post2622868#2622868 ):

Best practice to program new key:

1. brown key/master into the lock
2a./2b. switch ON / OFF (leave master inserted!)
3. fold out chip from master
4. hold blue key upside down next to lock, so that the chip of the blue key is closer to the ignition lock than the unfolded chip of the master.
5a./5b. switch again ON / OFF
(to learn a second blue key repeat steps 4 + 5a +5b with another blue blank)
6. retract the chip of the master key (hold the blue key(s) away from the lock)
7a/7b again ON/OFF
8. wait 30 seconds
9a./9b. test with chip of master key unfolded and chip of (first) blue key close to lock (switch ON/OFF) -> test again for second blue key (if programmed)

For understanding: the brown master key stays in the lock during the whole procedure, with this key you do all locking operations. It depends only on which key the chip for the respective step is closer to the lock (brown/blue), so you save the re-inserting of the keys and can achieve the required speed.

Method above can be done before the new blank gets cut at a locksmith, so you are sure it will work BEFORE you pay money for cutting

Important are the 30 seconds pause before you test the new blue key.

Note: If you are using no keyring in brown key you can separate Chip instead of unfoldingā€¦
