1Hi all,

After a month of body work on my old barn find, we are close to the re spray phase. Originally I wanted to go with a green but have decided to keep the bike true to its origin story.

Bike was bought by a Farmer on Wellington st in Perth Australia in 1969, he bought it after seeing another farmer that was using his daughters 1964 vespa for herding up his sheep and swore by the utility of it.

The original purple / magenta colour was chosen as it was on a discount (classic farmer, haha)

What do you all make of the colour?

that *looks* like rosa shocking 801, but I can't really be sure. I've never seen one in person, and I don't know if that color was actually offered in 68/69.

how's the rear end of that frame look? could you post a pic?

anyway, if it were mine I'd be going silver or blue. unless I could 100% verify that the purple was indeed OG to that bike.

It looks like he has completely remove the entire legshield.

Purple and magenta are marvelous colors for ladies underwear. Laughing emoticon

I could be wrong, but I don't think Piaggio made a purple. Maybe it was "Shocking Pink". That would explain why it was on sale. Facepalm emoticon

Finally got to the bottom of this one

The bike was imported Via Newzeland. back in the 60s they had import requirements for value add in country so them came in as fully knocked down kits un painted.

So they had there own run of non Vespa Colours.

Leaning towards the vespa MaxMeyer 1.298.7210 blue colour to align with what came out of Italy
