I have a GT 200l with 24k and strange oil light flickers once in a while. Sometimes in coincides with hard braking but not always. I was wondering is this a failing oil pump? What does everyone think?

first, double check your oil and make sure that it's at the proper level.

next check the wiring wiring and sensor. it's a small spade connector that's right there next to the oil filter. sometimes this can get loose or corroded.

unfortunately, on the GT200 this is behind the water pump cover. you can test it thru the harness plug in (it's just a continuity test), but that's difficult to do while riding. and this won't tell you if the sensor is on the way out or if you are losing pressure while running.

so... what I would do is tap into the circuit somewhere to give you an audible if there is a break in continuity while running, that way you can test while riding. a short or some type of bad connection is more than likely to present as short bursts quickly because it's straight voltage based and you're not relying on the pressure switch dipping in and out to trigger the light.

if you do have low pressure, I'd bet it to be more likely the pressure bypass than the pump.

also ensure that the pre-filter screen is unobstructed and seated properly and that the filter is new-ish and not compromised as well.

as for checking actual pressure, the FSM lists a cockamamie check that involves taking off pump cover, removing the sensor and testing from that port at something like idle and 6K and gives respective pressure ranges. which is like, the most Italian thing ever.

anyway, all of this is to say check the wiring before suspecting anything else.
