Small update! The smallie has fainted

I used M8 flanged nuts on the centre stand to repair the worn out legs and also turned it to a "Soft Soft System" (by SaFiS, not BGM ).

Need to finish with the fork and frond mudguard and it's off to the paint shop.

Thanks for sharing that. My 200 stand has a missing bracket. Older large frames had 2 of the same brackets. Newer has the larger bracket on one side with the rubber stop. I think that's the soft stand part. Your pics show me that it would be pretty easy to fab a stop bracket. Think I'll give it a try.

Clever solution! I remember how I suffer when did drill and cut square slot(similar for original V50) for it

Since the frame is a later model and has the P series lock body, the lock is the longer type, so the round part of the lock goes in the hole...

I assume my 1981 Special have same type of lock?

Taking everything apart and started cleaning before going to the paint shop. Split the fork (bearings were shot anyways) & removed the hub studs since we need longer ones for the tubeless rims. I also need to clean the engine cases since they're also going to be painted like we did on our Special...

- how did u get a hammer in there to flare the mudguard for the shock?
- what did u do to "planish" it smooth after u got the bulge roughed in?

First marked and then it's on and off the fork many times. I have some half cut cylinders I originally made for replacing seals on USD forks, so they come handy for the basic / rough shape. Then it's copper sheet between, round hammers, slapping files, dollies and lastly sanding…

What does the copper sheet do?

Almost done. Removed three layers of paint from the tank and sandblasted the cases. Need to clean them up, remove all the bearings and mask them for paint. Everything else have been masked and ready...

After finishing cleaning & masking the cases, everything gone to the paint shop. And now we wait...

What paint do they use Chrys? Does it bond well or scratch easily?

Owner decided for powder coating on these. On the Special we used heat resistant paint and primer for aluminum. Almost two years now, no issues…

Update time. Owner sent me the photos from the paint shop he took it to. Prepped with epoxy primer and second stage. It will be painted on Monday...

Hardest stuff done. SIP's rivet tool sucks ass so I do it the scooterwest way. I machined an old punch to accept the rivet's head and peen the other end with a round hammer. Enough for today...

Nice work as always! Are the welded nuts in there as spacers?

Yes. It's either nuts or a few washers welded together to achieve the angle I want and reduce the gap from the horn nose as much as possible…

That's an impressive bulge on the mudguard! It looks great with that shock. I like the black trim and mudguard crest. I wonder if a polished stainless front hub nut cover would go well with the wheel nuts. 🤔 You've really helped me with my color scheme for my P project. I liked the pic you posted in the past of a red PX with black running gear as well.
